International Business Bachelor s Degree - Think globally, act locally In today s economy, most economic boundaries have already disappeared and those remaining will continue to diminish. Competition is getting tougher and is coming from companies all over the world. Political and economic conditions make national borders disappear. Modern means of communication open new possibilities to broaden the field of business. To succeed today, business professionals must have a thorough knowledge of the international business environment as well as the ability to operate within individual foreign markets. All this creates new challenges and opportunities for young professional who are prepared for marketing and management functions in international business. In January 2010, UPEC and Hoa Sen University has launched a joint Bachelor s degree program in International Business (Licence Professionnelle Commerce Option Échages Internationaux). This one-year degree conducted in English prepares students for a successful and varied career based on an international industry relevant curriculum guided by a qualified academic professional international team. Focus on Asia market, the international business curriculum covers the fundamentals of business administration, with an emphasis on international business. Students will learn how to analyze global trends and national setting so as to identify the optimal approach to foreign market penetration. Specific issues covered include cultural, economic, import-export, outsourcing, etc Required foreign language concentrations are offered in Vietnamese, French and English. Upon completion of their course studies, students will complete a four-month internship either in Vietnam or abroad. Paris-Est Créteil University (UPEC) Founded in 1971, UPEC is a multi-disciplinary university integrated in the Licence- Master-Doctorat (LMD) system with 12 faculties offering a large range of complete programs: law, arts and humanities, sciences and technology, economics and development, educational science and social sciences. Accreditation Graduates from this program will earn the Professional Bachelor s Degree in International Business (Licence Professionnelle Commerce Option Échages Internationaux) from the Université Paris-Est Créteil conferred by the French Ministry of Education. To match the performance of the other educational systems around the world, notably the United States and Asia, 29 European countries officially launch the Bologna Process in 1999 with the signing of the Bologna Declaration. The mission of Bologna Process is to create a European Higher Education Area by 2010, in which students can choose from a wide and transparent range of high quality courses and benefit from seamless recognition procedures. The LMD system Licence, Master, Doctorat is based on the number of semesters completed after high school, and their equivalent in European credits under the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)*: Lience = 6 semesters = 180 ECTS (High school Diploma + 3 years) Master = 10 semesters = 300 ECTS (High school Diploma + 5 years) Doctorat = 16 semesters (High school Diploma + 8 years) *ECTS credits: Credits earned under the European Credit Transfer System are recognized throughout Europe. A full year of academic work represents 60 ECTS. Graduates from the International Business Professional Bachelor will have opportunities to further their studies with a Master s & Doctorate s degree. When submitting application for post degrees, each applicant will be treated case by case by the host institution.
Business internship: Balance theory and practice During this experience, students are expected to spend a minimum of four months in full-time employment either in Vietnam or abroad. It is designed to integrate academics with practical experiences prior to graduation. To gain hands-on experience in international markets, students will undertake an internship with an international company or nonprofit organizations, conduct market research in an export or investment company, join a multinational company offshore on an internship, prepare an export marketing plan for a product or service, or a development plan for a new product. Students are expected to find their own internship with the desired industry.
