CC-Link IE and a trend for the future ARC Twelfth India Forum, Bangalore 10-11 July, 2014 Industry in Transition: The Information Driven Enterprise in a Connected World Haruyuki Otani CC-Link Partner Association info@cc-link.org 1

Quick Introduction of CC-Link IE 2

Manufacturing Industry Trend Competition in the manufacturing industry intensifies increasingly (1)Competition with overseas advanced makers (2)Local maker s catching up with advanced makers (3)Local maker s advance into overseas markets Overseas Markets Example. Chinese Automotive Industry Many automakers, advanced or local, have production lines in China. 3

Automation in the manufacturing industry The makers truely outliving competitors require advanced automation Steps of automation (Step1) Cheap personnel expenses are utilized Productivity Quality Low (Step2) Automation is introduced by the jump of personnel expenses (Step3) Advanced automation is required by intensified competition High 4

What is big Data? Various definitions such as quantified, structural, or qualified one. Source: Wikipedia Big data is a blanket term for any collection of data sets so large and complex that it becomes difficult to process using on-hand database management tools or traditional data processing applications. (omitted) correlations to be found to spot business trends, determine quality of research, prevent diseases, link legal citations, combat crime, and determine real-time roadway traffic condition Source: Suzuki Ryosuke ビッグデータビジネスの 時 代 Data that leads useful knowledge for business Big Data Business: solves social and economic problems or raises added value for business 12

What kind of data? Various kinds of data constitutes big data Social Media Data Twitter, Facebook, Multi Media Data Youtube, Web Site Data Blog, Customer Data Membership Info, Big Data Sensor Data GPS, IC Card, RFID Office Data Document, E-Mail, Logging Data Access Log, Operational Data POS Data, Transaction Source: ICT Council ICT Strategy Board 13

Why big data? Marketing Trend Changing the way of marketing from mass to one2one (STEP1) Mass marketing by mass consumption and production Economic Strength low (STEP2)Target marketing by breaking a market into segments (lifestyle, one s taste) (STEP3)One2One marketing by breaking a market into indivisuals Visualizing market by analyzing big data high 14

One2One marketing example Grasp indivisual taste or trend for purchase Based on purchase history, displaying recommended books. Dec, 2013:announced Amazon Prime Air service Dec, 2013:acquired the patent, METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ANTICIPATORY PACKAGE SHIPPING Optimizing stock and delivery Smart 15

Future of the manufacturing industry Smart supply chain and Smart manufacturing Product Plan & Design Supply Manufacturing Logistics and sales How can we reduce not only time but energy/materials Mass marketing Prospected Mass Push Target marketing Semi Prospected Various kinds/small Semi-Push One2One marketing Smart Smart Smart (Now beginning) Smart Plan&Design Forecast Model Big data 16

Smart Manufacturing(future) Not only ERP but MES will be smarter ERP Layer Supply Plan Production Plan Sales Plan Forecast Model MES Layer MES Functions 1. Resource Allocation and Status 2. Operations/ Detail Scheduling 3. Dispatching Production Units 4. Document Control 5. Data Collection/Acquisition Collaborating ERP with MES 6. Labor Management in real time (Feedback, ) 7. Quality Management 8. Process Management 9. Maintenance Management 10.Product Tracking and Genealogy 11.Performance Analysis Improving OEE will be more important (OEE: Overall Equipment Effectiveness) 17

Reduction of the downtime losses by big data analysis (future) Gathering a lot of sensor data using CC-Link IE / SLMP(M2M), sign of failure could be discovered Reduction of downtime losses (1)An unexpected equipment stop is prevented beforehand. (2)Reduction of scheduled maintenance (3)prevent CHOKO TEI Early Random Wear-out Scheduled maintenance was required. Big data analysis Normal Sign of failure Updating recommendation time SLMP for M2M Angle signal (sensor data) Other sensor data The failure possibility of parts (bathtub curve) deceleration system Flywheel system Clutch& brake wireless 18

Reduction of the quality losses by big data analysis (future) Gathering a lot of sensor data using CC-Link IE / SLMP(M2M), quality could be easily improved Reduction of quality losses (1)Quality-of-conformance analysis (2)A professional parameter adjustment carried out automatically. Measured value Prof. Quality No so good temperature, humidity, etc. are included. A lot of sensor data are gathered. sensor data which changes every moment parameters SLMP for M2M Big data analysis wireless 19

Summary By the spread of Internet + IT technology, a trend from target marketing to one2one marketing is accelerating. Big data analysis seems to play a role in smart logistics and sales. The manufacturing industry are also going to be smart where ERP and MES cooperate in real time based on the forecasting model using big data analysis. In such future, improvement in OEE will become more important. By using the features of, large scale and ultra-speed, a lot of sensor data collection is possible. Furthermore, improvement in OEE is expectable by progress of data analysis technology. 20
