Government Data Center Consolidation Not just an issue for Developing countries it is a common issue for most governments

Government Visions & Trends The starting point is this: in central government we have 130 data centers. Following a survey of central government s insourced and outsourced data centers, we asked the question: Do you need 130? The analysis was done by IT industry trade body Intellect. It said that we could significantly reduce the number from 130 to something like 10-12. (John Suffolk/UK)

There is no saved information, no documentation, no backup hardware, and no contingency plan. The time necessary to recover in this instance is unpredictable. In fact, it may not be possible to recover at all. This applies to several ministrylevel data centers visited over the past year.
