Product sheet SW4.05 Type MOD-MBUS MOD-MBUS Modbus to M-Bus Module MOD-MBUS modules offer an easy-to-use and cost effective solution to collect data from MBUS devices (water meter, heat meter, current meter, gas meter). Due to the open MODBUS RTU standard the M-bus meters can easily be integrated to Modbus compatible systems such as most building management systems. The meters from which data is read are configured via PC configuration software. The modules can be configured for communication with RS232 or RS485. The MOD-MBUS module periodically sends queries to the MBUS devices connected and stores the data internally in MODBUS holding register. The Modbus master (e.g. BMS, PLC, Sedona Controllers) can then read the stored values via MODBUS RTU master protocol. Features Support for up to 2, 8, 2,and 48 M-bus Easy configuration using template based PC configuration software; large library of meter templates provided RS232/RS485 mode selectable via bit switch Modbus Baud Rates: 9k6, 19k2, 38k4, 57k6 M-Bus and Modbus interface is galvanically isolated EN50022 DIN-rail mounting Model Type Model Description MOD-MBUS-2 MOD-MBUS-8 MOD-MBUS-24 MOD-MBUS-48 MBUS-CF Modbus to M-Bus, Up to 2 M-Bus, RS485/RS232 Modbus Slave Modbus to M-Bus, Up to 8 M-Bus, RS232/RS232 Modbus Slave Modbus to M-Bus, Up to 24 M-Bus, RS485/RS232 Modbus Slave Modbus to M-Bus, Up to 48 M-Bus, RS232/RS232 Modbus Slave Configuration Software for the Technical Data Power Supply 24Vdc+/-10% <2.5W MOD-MBUS-48: 24Vdc+/-10%<3.5W Modbus Modbus RTU Slave 9600 to 57600 bps, 8 Data Bits, Parity None/Even/Odd, 1 Stop Bit Modbus Connection RS232 or RS485 (Selectable by bit switch) Modbus Data Types 5 Different Data Types for the Value Representation No. of M-Bus Devices MOD-MBUS-2: Up to 2 M-Bus / Devices (1.5mA load) MOD-MBUS-8: Up to 8 M-Bus / Devices (1.5mA load) MOD-MBUS-24: Up to 24 M-Bus / Devices (1.5mA load) MOD-MBUS-48: Up to 48 M-Bus / Devices (1.5mA load) M-Bus Comms EN1434-3, 300 up to 38,400 bps, 8 Data Bits, Parity Even, 1 Stop Bit M-Bus Cable Max.Cable Length: 350m Max Cable Capacitance: 180 nf Maximum Number of Modbus Parameters Wiring Terminals Max. 1.5 mm 2 MOD-MBUS-2: Up to 20 Data Points MOD-MBUS-8: Up to 200 Data Points MOD-MBUS-24: Up to 500 Data Points MOD-MBUS-48: Up to 600 Data Points PS SW4.05-1/5

Functional Description and Modbus Registers MOD-MBUS converters read values of meters with a MBUS interface automatically and store the values in internal Modbus Holding registers. The converters can hold up to 20/200/500/600 MBUS values, depending on the type of the converter. A host system can read out asynchronously the stored values via MODBUS RTU master functionality. The physical connection is done via RS232 or via RS485 interface. After switching on the power supply the converter checks for a valid configuration and initializes all registers to zero. If there is no valid configuration or an error occurred, the state indicator flashes twice every second, on successful startup it flashes every second. The power on sequence is signaled with a simultaneous short flash of all the LEDs in the converter. For communication via Modbus are following Modbus features available: READ HOLDING REGISTER (function code: 3) PRESET SINGLE REGISTER (function code: 6) PRESET MULTIPLE REGISTERS (function code: 16) Register overview: value range counter information range configuration range *) command range reserved range *) counter 1... counter n reboot reserved *) reserved *) state identification number identification number MOD-MBUS2/8 MOD-MBUS24/48 value range 4x00001 4x00200 4x00001 4x01000 counter information range 4x02001 4x02024 4x02001 4x02072 configuration range 4x03001 4x03244 4x03001 4x04124 command range 4x06001 4x06003 4x06001 4x06003 reserved range 4x07001 4x07130 4x07001 4x07130 4x65200 4x65535 4x65200 4x65535 unused range reserved range *) *) This ranges are reserved for the configuration software and may not be written during operation.
