WriteSource Teacher Set Up Quick Guide 1.) Once your District/School Administrator sets you up in the system, you will receive an e mail that contains a link to get started. NOTE: The District/School Administrator must set up (name) your classes before you will have access to Texas WriteSource. Click on the link: NOTE: e mail will be from Your_writesource_access@hmhpub.com 2.) Complete the registration information and click Save:

NOTE: to login from now on, go to ws.hmhpub.com and click on Login To Add Existing Students to Your Class: 1.) Click on Manage Class from the top of the Teacher Dashboard: 2.) Click on the Students tab from the Class Management Screen: 3.) Find and select the new students from the available students listed on the left. Click the arrow button to move the students into the class list. Click Save and Next when finished:

NOTE: to select more than one student, press and hold the Shift or Ctrl key, and then click the names. The Shift key selects the students in sequential order. The Ctrl key allows you to select students in non sequential order. To Add New Students to Your Class: 1.) Click on Manage Class from the top of the Teacher Dashboard: 2.) Click on the Students tab from the Class Management Screen: 3.) Click the create a new student link:

4.) Enter required student information (First name, last name, username, and grade, though we recommend teachers enter a password), scroll down, and click Save.

5.) The newly created student should appear in your class s students list. Click Save and Next when finished.

Allocating All Available Products to a Class (Full Subscription purchase) 1.) You can allocate products to your class on the Products tab. Once products are allocated to a class, they appear on the student and teacher Dashboards and Bookshelves. A check mark next to a product in the Teacher column allocates the product to the teacher. A check mark next to a product in the Student column allocates the product to the class. Click the checkbox next to the Teacher heading to allocate all available teacher products to the teacher. NOTE: Checkboxes for Net text units and GrammarSnap will become enabled in the student column after those prodcuts are allocated to the teacher. Checkboxes for teacher only products are grayed out in the Student column and can not be allocated to students. 2.) Click the checkbox next to the Student heading to allocate all available student products to the student. Click Save and Next to save the class product allocations.

3.) To allocate products to another class, click on the Change link under your avatar on the landing page to choose the next class. Add students and products following the above steps. NOTE: The District/School Administrator must set up (name) your classes before you will have access to Texas WriteSource. Write Source Product Types and Customized Allocation The Products tab lists all teacher and student products that can be allocated to a class. Write Source provides the flexibility to allocate a subset of available products to classes. Interactive Whiteboard Lessons, GrammarSnap, Online Essay Scoring, and the File Cabinet are each represented by one corresponding product in the product list. There are mutliple ebooks and Net text units for each grade, which account for the majority of the products in the class products list.

Allocating ebooks to a Class (Bookshelf purchase) 1.) Select ebooks from the Product Type filter on the Products tab. 2.) Click the checkbox next to the Teacher heading to allocate all available Teacher Editions to the teacher. Click the checkbox next to the Student heading to allocate all available Student Editions to the class. Click Save and Close when finished. Note: Checkboxes for Teacher Editions are grayed out in the student column and cannot be allocated to the class. Checkboxes for Student Editions are grayed out in the teacher column and cannot be allocated to the teacher. Teachers can toggle to Student Edition pages from their Teacher Edition pages. For entitlements to other HMH products on ThinkCentral or Holt McDougal Online, they will display on the products list as ebooks. When available, these products will be allocated when allocating all products or all ebook products to the teacher or class. This includes programs such as Journeys or Holt McDougal Literature.

English and Spanish Products (Grades 2 5) Districts and schools with entitlements to English and Spanish products will see all English and Spanish products available to allocate to their grades 2 5 classes. When creating an English only or Spanish only class, the instructions above do not apply because the the products list is not filtered by language. Clicking the checkbox next to the Teacher and Student column headers will allocate English and Spanish products to a class. Student Registration and Log In 1.) Distribute usernames and passwords to students offline. 2.) Students should go to: https://ws.hmhpub.com/writesource/login 3.) Select a state from the dropdown list: 4.) Enter the school name: Note: The school list is filtered using predictive text as the student enters characters in the school name field. State and school selections are saved to the computer, so the next time the students log into Write Source from the same computer, they should not have to select a school. 5.) Enter the username, password, and then click Login.
