Introduction The Outpatient Department, at Doddington Hospital, offers a range of outpatient specialist clinics, delivered by our specialist doctors, specialist consultants from Peterborough City and Hinchingbrooke. Our clinics offer confidential, patient-centred consultations in modern, clean and comfortable surroundings, supported by a team of professional, caring nursing staff with a range of clinical skills. Additional needs to discuss any additional requirements or to visit the department prior to your appointment, please telephone us on 01354 644267. We offer a variety of diagnostic tests to support the specialist clinics, reducing the need for you to travel to the large acute hospitals. These include: ECGs (electrocardiography) Blood sampling Bladder scan and flow rates 24 hour ECG recording Retinal photography Minor skin surgery Hearing tests There are also x-ray and physiotherapy services located at Doddington Hospital which our consultants can refer into. Parking at the hospital is free and there are a range of hot and cold refreshments available to purchase from the Friends of Doddington Hospital shop.

On Your Arrival On arrival at the Doddington Outpatient Department please report to the appointment booking desk. Please inform the reception staff on your arrival if you have any additional needs. Alternatively you may wish to ring the department prior to your appointment to discuss any concerns or needs you may have. Our telephone number is 01354 644267. You will be asked to take a seat in the waiting room area. A member of the team will introduce themselves to you and you will be asked the title name you prefer to be addressed as at your appointment. Personal details e.g. name, address, date of birth and GP contact number will be confirmed. The time of the appointment will be checked at this point. You will be advised if there is a delay in your appointment time. You will be kept informed of any delays throughout your stay with us. Finally you will be told that your Dr / Consultant may require a pre-consultation assessment prior to the consultation. Assessment Pre-consultation tests may include some, all or none of the following: Blood pressure BMI (body mass index) Height Oxygen saturation Pulse Weight Urinalysis - please hand your sample to a member of staff at this point.

Assessment continued All the results of these tests are recorded in your patient notes for the consultant who will view them before your consultation. Please report any concerns you feel are necessary to support your consultation to a member of the team whilst in the department. Your Consultation You may be seen at the Doddington outpatient clinic as a new patient or as a follow-up patient. For any review the patient s test results will be sourced prior to this consultation. For first consultations individual care pathways are in place. Finally you will be shown into the consultation room. You may be accompanied by other clinic members i.e. the nurse. Please inform us if this is not acceptable. We endeavour to keep consultations on time, however, there will be times when appointments over run. Please allow plenty of time for your visit (this may take up to two hours). If you are unable to attend your appointment please call direct on 01354 644244 between 8.30am and 4pm, Monday to Friday to rearrange. This appointment can then be offered to another patient.
