Epworth also now operates a range of specialty clinics, including the Women s and Men s Health Clinics, the Breast Clinic, Epworth HealthCheck and Epworth s Specialist Centres. Clinical support The Epworth HealthCare Graduate Nurse Program begins with a comprehensive orientation. This is designed to prepare you for clinical work and introduce you to nursing at Epworth. We recognise that clinical support is critical to your transition and development. Midwifery Programs Our Graduate Midwives strive for the highest standards of practice and learning in a supportive environment, to become valued and experienced analytical midwives. Applications are invited from Bachelor of Midwifery, Bachelor of Nursing/Midwifery and Postgraduate Diploma of Midwifery Graduates. Clinical experience Over the 12 month program you will gain experience in our Delivery Suite, Ante/Post Natal Ward and Special Care Nursery. Educational support The program begins with an orientation to introduce you to. Four study days are scheduled throughout the year, focusing on professional issues and ongoing education. offers a supportive, professional environment with Supernumary time, Clinical Nurse Specialist and Clinical Nurse Educator support. Work hours Four days per week. You will be required to work day, evening, weekend and night shifts. Enrolled Nurse Program Our Enrolled Nurse Graduate Program offers an intense but rewarding opportunity to experience the acute care setting unmatched by any other organisation. The Enrolled Nurse Graduate Program is run at Epworth Richmond, Freemasons and Eastern campuses, expanding to Geelong. You choose and apply to the division that best meets your clinical and situational needs. Our 12 month program is flexible and tailored for you with 2 rotations in acute clinical units. Educational support The Enrolled Nurse Programs begin with extensive orientation. This is designed to prepare you for clinical work and introduce you to Nursing at Epworth. The program includes a structured theoretical component, consisting of five paid study days throughout the year. These are focused on professional issues as well as providing ongoing education to expand your scope of practice. It is our expectation that successful applicants will actively seek out learning opportunities. Work hours Graduates are employed on a part-time basis (min 4 days per week). We encourage flexibility in rostering and it is expected you will work day, evening, weekends and some night duty shifts. Professional development The Program provides ample opportunities for graduates to undertake study towards further qualifications. On successful completion of the Program, opportunities for ongoing permanent employment at Epworth are also available. 13
Year Two and Beyond Introduction to Specialty Practice Introduction to Specialty Practice is offered throughout Epworth HealthCare for registered nurses. This supportive program enables nurses entry into specialty clinical practice areas. Epworth Eastern Epworth Eastern is a stateof-the-art hospital located in Box Hill. Opened in 2005, we offer a broad range of clinical specialties supported by an ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation in clinical and patient care. As a result, Epworth Eastern was awarded the 2009 APHA Award for Clinical Excellence. Epworth Eastern is a 223 bed, tertiary level acute surgical and medical facility with approximately 73% of these being private rooms. We follow a patient centred model using team based nursing. In 2012 Epworth Eastern was awarded the 2012 Studer Crystal Flame Organisation of the year. This is an international award for healthcare excellence. Epworth Geelong As the city of Greater Geelong continues to grow, so does its need for additional healthcare services. Epworth Geelong is our new campus opening to patients in mid-2016, providing comprehensive medical and surgical acute and rehabilitation care to present a new choice for healthcare and offer additional services to the growing region. was established as Freemasons Hospital in 1937. The hospital now has a 286 bed capacity across two campuses in East Melbourne. Rated as one of the best maternity hospitals in Victoria, has a dedicated team of experienced midwives and the latest equipment, and works with some of Victoria s most respected obstetricians. also offers comprehensive cancer services, a broad range of surgical specialties including urology, breast and gynaecological surgery, and specialist breast, women s and men s health clinics. The Clarendon Street building has a capacity of 178 beds, with six modern operating theatres, an Intensive Care Unit and Cancer Treatment Centre. These services are complimented by Epworth Freemasons Day hospital in nearby Victoria Parade which was built in 1989 and houses a Maternity Unit with Special Care Nursery, a state of the art Day Procedure Centre with five theatres, a Day Oncology Unit, and specialised clinics and consulting suites for many of Melbourne s top doctors and surgeons. James Epworth Camberwell Epworth Clinic provides specialist Mental Health services in our purpose built facility which is co-located at in the recently redeveloped Epworth Camberwell site. Our inpatient unit is comprised of 63 private rooms and we treat voluntary patients who are acutely unwell, in addition to offering a range of outpatient day programs. Epworth Richmond Richmond is the largest Epworth Campus. The hospital redevelopment is well underway and due to open at the end of 2015, which will provide the necessary infrastructure to effectively meet future health demands. The redevelopment means the hospital will have a total of 777 inpatient beds and 38 operating theatres by 2020. Epworth Richmond has grown over 90 years to be one of Australia s leading specialist hospitals renowned both locally and overseas. Affiliated with Deakin, ACU and Melbourne Universities, we offer financial and clinical support for nurses undertaking post graduate studies in Critical Care (ICU, Cardiac and Emergency), Orthopaedics, Perioperative Nursing, Neuroscience, Oncology and General Medical/ Surgical Nursing. Epworth Richmond is equipped with quality facilities and latest technologies including a 15 bed Intensive Care Unit, 28 operating theatres, and Australia s first da Vinci robotic system, day surgery facilities, 4 catheter laboratories, community care and Hospital in the Home. Annually, the Emergency Department treats more than 27,000 patients.
