Reading Materials The printed books, which are spiral bound to make studying easier, follow the CIA exam syllabus by addressing all the CIA exam topics found within the Sections for each Part of the exam. NEW! The new e-book format gives learners the option of downloading the reading materials to their mobile devices such as a Kindle, ipad or Nook reader. There s no extra charge for the mobile version! There are more than 1,400 reading pages of comprehensive information intended to teach The IIA CIA exam syllabus. The books are used in many companies as a baseline professional development tool, in addition to a certification preparation tool, because they are a comprehensive overview of The IIA Standards and the practice of the Internal Audit across the world. 5
The reading materials are graphically rich, easy to use, and linked directly to every practice question found in the online software. 6
Reading Materials (continued) The reading materials follow the CIA exam syllabus whenever possible. The sections are weighted the same way the exam is weighted and the topics are taught to the same Proficiency and Awareness levels on which they are tested (as depicted by Level A and Level P in the sample table of contents, below). 7

Online Menu The online study tools help learners to apply the concepts learned in the printed materials and test their understanding and retention of the topics. Quizzes and tests prepare the user for the CIA exam, providing immediate feedback and additional guidance. Purchasers of the full, three-part program have access to the online tools for two years. Purchasers of an individual part have access for one year. All interactive online study tools can be accessed at www.learncia.com. 9
Pre-test Pre-tests are made up of 50 questions covering all CIA topics as weighted by the CIA exam. Answers are identified as correct or incorrect and rationale is provided for the correct answer as well as reference to the corresponding section in the training materials for follow-up. The pre-test results will identify the user s strengths and weaknesses, allowing the individual to focus their attention where it s most needed. After completing the course, pre-test scores will be compared to post-test scores in the Reports section to show knowledge and skills have improved. The rationale refers participants to the specific section in the text that outlines the topic. 10
Quizzes After reviewing each chapter in the reading materials, users are encouraged to test their understanding and retention of the topics by completing a practice quiz that contains questions pertaining to that chapter. Quizzes provide immediate feedback with correct answer identification, rationale, and reference to the appropriate section in the printed materials. Flashcards Users can test their knowledge of important terms and definitions with online flashcards. Printable versions of the flashcards are available in the Resource Center. 11
Post-test Post-tests include 100 questions taken from topics throughout the course part, as weighted by the CIA exam. The post-test is timed, provides immediate feedback, rationale, and reference to the appropriate section in the printed materials for additional review. After completing the post-test, users can visit the Reports to see a comparison of their pretest and post-test scores to evaluate their progress throughout the course. CIA Practice Exam The CIA Practice Exam was designed to help CIA candidates gain comfort and experience with the format and functionality of the computer-based CIA exam. Users can flag questions for review and skip and return to questions later in the exam. Question by question instructional feedback (like found in Pre, Post and Chapter Quizzes) is not provided as this is considered an exam simulation. This exam emulates the real CIA exam both in duration (time) and number of questions per part. 12
Resource Center Program updates, test-taking tips, printable flashcards, certification information, reference material, and feedback forms are available on the Resource Center. Reports Best Test Scores report provides a summary of all quiz/text/exam scores. Users can look at each quiz attempt (i.e. every time a quiz is completed the results are saved) and review the questions that were answered incorrectly. Users can take practice quizzes as many times as they d like. Pre-/Post-Test Comparison reviews the user s pre- and post-test scores by section to gauge knowledge gain. 13
