Thunder Link is a family of small form factor modules for formatting and converting generic digital video streams to standard compliant formats. Different interface standards are supported from the transmitter side including DVI/HDMI, VGA, 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, SDI, CVBS and USB. Supported physical media are copper and fibre cables. The TL6830_Demo USB3.0 HD video streamer module connects to the parallel CMOS interface of Sony s FCB-MA130. Selection of the desired video output format of this USB3.0 FCB-MA130 camera demo solution is done by using a simple character based terminal program on the host computer. Supported Cameras Model FCB-MA130 Comment Supported Video and Still Capture Modes The TL6830_Demo supports all full motion video standards and some still capture modes of the FCB-MA130. For details, please refer to the following table and the FCB-MA130 data sheet provided by Sony. Video mode support 1920x1080p @ 25Hz, 30 Hz 1600x1200p @ 25Hz, 30Hz 1280x960p @ 25Hz, 30Hz 1280x720p @ 25Hz, 30Hz 800x480p @ 25Hz, 30Hz 640x480p @ 25Hz, 30Hz Still capture mode support 4192x3104 (output rate 5fps) 2592x1944 (output rate 5fps) 1920x1080 (output rate 5fps) 640x480 (output rate 15fps) Host (PC) - Device Communication TL6830_Demo operates always as USB device which sends UVC compliant video data to a host PC. The host communicates with the TL6830_Demo via a RS232 serial communication channel. Connecting the TL6830_Demo to the Host PC (refer to application note AN_TL6830_Demo_130811_b for further information) Operating System Support TL6830_Demo can be operated with all operating systems which fully support USB UVC type data and communication. Currently, Microsoft Windows 7 (32 and 64bit) and Windows 8 operating systems are supported as reference. Driver Requirements Full UVC compliant driver is required. Such drivers are supplied with e.g. Microsoft Windows 7 <usbvideo.sys> operating systems. Manual driver installation is not necessary. Video Application on Host PC Video display and recording can be done with standard application programs like VLC player, Mplayer, Debut or similar. If users want to design their own applications software, they are free to do so. All software programming tasks are OS based and have to be built upon UVC drivers. On MS Windows systems, access to and display of video data is based on MS DirectShow. For further information please refer to Microsoft Windows SDK documentation. Controlling TL6830_Demo from the Host PC via RS232 UART TL6830_Demo provides a RS323 UART interface. Camera mode selection is done by using simpe character based terminal software (Hyperterminal, Terra Term or similar). As FCB-MA130 control is based on I2C bus commands, TL6830_Demo translates received terminal commands into I2C bus command sequences. Communication speed is fixed to 9600bit/s. COM port settings are (8N1). E-Mail: sales@aivion.com 2
