Government of India Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas invites applications for the post of Director General in the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons, an agency set up to promote sound management of the petroleum resources of the country. The organization reviews and monitors all aspects of petroleum operations to ensure the optimal exploitation of petroleum resources consistent with sound technological and economic practices and in compliance with standard practices in the international petroleum industry relating to safety and environmental aspects. The organization also provides technical advice to the Ministry on issues relevant to the exploration and optimal exploitation of petroleum resources both within the country and abroad. For carrying out the above functions, the Director General is assisted by experienced staff drawn from diverse disciplines like Exploration, Production & Operations, Planning & Field Development, Safety, finance, etc. MODE OF SELECTION / APPOINTMENT: Deputation (including short-term contract). TERMS: Five years or till the incumbent completes the age of superannuation of 60 years, whichever is earlier. However, the period of deputation, including the period of deputation (including short-term contract) in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organisation or department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed five years. QUALIFICATION: A Officers under the Central Government or State Government or Union territory Administrations or recognised research institutions or public sectors undertakings or semi-government or autonomous or statutory organisations: (I) holding analogous posts on regular basis; or (II) officers in pay band-4, Rs 37,000-67,000 with grade pay of Rs 10,000/- or equivalent with three years service in the grade on regular basis in the parent cadre or department; and B possessing the following educational qualifications and experience: Essential: (1) Master s degree in Geology or Geophysics or Petroleum Geology with sixteen years of experience in upstream oil sector in field (s) of planning, execution and monitoring of projects and development plans for oil and natural gas; or (2) Bachelor s degree in Petroleum Engineering with seventeen years of experience in the designated areas.
Desirable: (1) Doctorate degree in related field of Geology or Geophysics or Petroleum Geology or Petroleum Engineering from recognised university; (2) Master s degree in Business Administration or Post Graduate Diploma in Management. Age : The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation shall be not exceeding fifty six (56) years as on the last date of receipt of applications. NATIONALITY: Indian PAY SCALE & ALLOWANCES: Pay Scale : Incumbent for the post of DGH will be placed in Central Government pay scale of HAG Rs. 67,000-79,000 annual increment @ 3%. Dearness Allowance : As applicable to the Central Government revised pay scale of HAG Rs. 67,000-79,000. Other Allowances : House Rent, Medical Allowance, Conveyance Facility, etc. as admissible to an officer under the Central Government in the revised pay scale of HAG. Or Allowances & Perquisites as admissible to the incumbent in his parent organization immediately prior to his appointment as Director General in the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons The incumbent would be required to exercise his option at the time of his appointment and choose either of the two options, which would not be changed subsequently.
