NURSING CURRICULUM Integrated Curriculum vs. Blocked Curriculum LSC-CF offers a Blocked Curriculum. Other LSCS colleges offer an integrated curriculum. Integrated curriculum= program organized around series of concepts that progress from simple to complex. Blocked curriculum = program courses divided by content area such as pediatrics, obstetrics, and medical-surgical nursing.

ADMISSIONS CRITERIA ADN Lone Star College System & Nursing Program application TSI/SSI Complete Math 0310 required for admission BIOL 2401, ENGL 1301, and PSYC 2301 All academic courses must be C or better; overall GPA 2.5 Biology (and Pharm, if taken) must be completed within 5 years of application- may take refresher course (Biol 2404)

FINAL ACCEPTANCE INTO ADN PROGRAM CONTINGENT ON THE COMPLETION OF: Clear Criminal background check & possible drug screening Hepatitis B immunizations series must be complete-must submit proof of first immunization at time of application Current TB Status & documentation of childhood immunizations (or titers) Current CPR certification (must be for health care provider) Proof of current Health Insurance Proof of English Proficiency (TOEFL); if required

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT Accepted students and alternates to a LSCS nursing program who completed high school outside the United States of America must provide proof of English language proficiency. Can be done by submitting one of the following: Test of English as a foreign language (TOEFL) with score of 530 or higher on a paper exam, 197 or higher on a computer exam and 71 or higher on an Internet based exam. International English Language Testing System (IELTS ) Academic Test with an overall score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in all of the four modules for the Academic Test. NEW: If graduated from English speaking high school in a country not listed above, provide official transcripts and a notarized letter from the headmaster/principal of the high school stating that English was the primary language of the courses taught. NEW: Provide documentation of graduation from a college or university in the United States, or other English speaking countries such as Canada (other than Quebec), Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Ireland.

SSNS &/OR VISAS Although not a requirement for admission into the nursing program, our clinical sites require students to have a valid Social Security number or a valid International Visa (F-1) as a condition of being assigned to that site. Students who are unable to complete the LSCS health program clinical skills requirement will not be able to complete the program due to a lack of clinical placement.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT? Busy Schedule Cannot work full-time! No more than a few hours part-time/week Will attend class/clinical/lab 4-5 days per week, clinical generally starts at 6:30am Clinicals may be on off-shifts as well as weekends
