construction management Our Principals have extensive experience in Construction Management, having served as directors for the construction and expansion of several airports, stadiums and institutional buildings. Toyota Park Stadium bridgeview, IL Ardmore provided owner s representative services for the $100 million, 469,000 square foot multi-functional stadium, including practice field, office and retail space. The stadium has four levels which include event, club hospitality, and main mezzanine and two suite levels (A and B) as well as terrace. Seating capacity allows 20,000 for sporting events and 28,000 for concerts. Ardmore also provided coordination of the scope definition, budget, design, schedule and construction for the project. University of Chicago Residence Hall and Dining Facility The University of Chicago s new 366,000 square foot residence hall and dining facility is comprised of an 800-bed residence hall with single, double and apartment style suites in one high rise and two mid-rise buildings; a 539-seat dining facility including a 75-to 85-seat café; a convenience store; and study commons with computer facilities and study space. Ardmore provided construction management services for the project. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Residence Hall and Dining Facility Champaign, IL Timothy J. Nugent Residence Hall is a new 58,000 square foot four-story building with a basement. The building is constructed of a cast-in-place concrete frame with a brick and curtain wall enclosure. The residence hall is occupied, in part, by students enrolled in UIUC s Beckwith Program for students with severe physical disabilities. There are 152 rooms for students, 30 of which are Beckwith rooms located on the first floor of the residence hall. The project is required to be LEED certified with a Silver rating. Ardmore provided construction management and engineering support for project construction.
Construction Inspection Ardmore performs Construction Inspection services for public agencies. We specialize in roadway and infrastructure projects where our experience with utility coordination and transportation agencies sets us apart. The O Hare Modernization Program chicago, IL Ardmore provides construction management for the O Hare Modernization Program, the $6.6 billion project that will reconfigure O Hare Airport s intersecting runways into a more parallel configuration. Ardmore is a sub-consultant to Parsons Brinkerhoff on this multi year expansion of O Hare International Airport, providing the North Airfield Site Manager, the South Airfield Zone Manager, Lead Resident Engineers, Office Engineers, Assistant Resident Engineers, Project Managers and Field Inspectors. Illinois State Toll Highway Authority (ISTHA) Plaza 9 Elgin Open Road Tolling Reconstruction Ardmore provided construction inspection services for the improvements that were performed along the Northwest Tollway I-90 between Mile Post 24.0 and Mile Post 26.5. The work consisted of complete removal and replacement of the toll plaza, construction of a new open road tolling collection facility, installation of new toll booths, complete reconstruction and widening of approximately one mile of mainline pavement and shoulders, complete construction of a storm sewer system, installation of new light standards, widening of the bridge over Sleepy Hollow Road, retaining wall construction, and permanent pavement marking and signage. I-57 Resurfacing (IDOT) 175th Street to the Will County Line Ardmore performed as the prime contractor for the Illinois Department of Transportation to resurface Interstate 57, from 175th Street to the Will County Line. A 7.2 mile, $12.1 million project consisting of Traffic Control, Class A Concrete Patching, milling and asphalt paving. The work was performed at night under live traffic and restrictive time windows and was completed ahead of schedule. Wacker Drive (CDOT) South Viaduct Reconstruction Monroe Street to Van Buren Street Ardmore Associates provided sub-consultant services to Burns & McDonnell including documentation and construction inspection. The project consisted of removal and new construction of viaduct structure including associated grade beams and columns; sheet pile and tie-back system and micro-pile and caisson foundations; and post tensioned bridge deck and latex concrete overlay, as well as HVAC and electrical improvements to trolley tunnel, ventilation rooms, city electrical rooms, radio room and bascule bridge rooms.
Services: civil engineering Roadway Design ADA Design Utility Connects Stormwater Runoff Our highly versatile design team can manage a myriad of Civil Engineering matters, including roads, parking lots, forest preserve trails, picnic areas and shelters, sediment ponds, detention ponds, maintenance facilities, roofs and boat ramps, commercial and multi-unit residential buildings. Water Detention/Retention Site Design Alternative Energy Design Ardmore is knowledgeable in stormwater regulations and can design retention ponds, underground stormwater detention tanks, ADA curb ramps, green roofs and storm sewers. We routinely communicate with regulatory agencies and apply for building and stormwater permits on behalf of our clients. Forest Preserve District of Cook County McGinnis Field Station Infrastructure Improvements Ardmore Associates designed and built a new 1500 foot access road; 1/5 acre drainable fish pond; new parking lot and security fence, in an environmentally sensitive Forest Preserve area. Design included soil erosion control plan, geometric design, new access road, and modified entrance to county township roads, new rubber modified asphalt pavement for the entrance road. Walsh Construction Building Renovation Ardmore provided civil design services for this 80,000 square foot building project. We designed and provided drawings for a new sidewalk, curb and gutter for the site. The design work incorporated the latest ADA standards for sidewalks. It also included modifications to the curb and gutter elevations to improve drainage. 47th Street & Cottage Grove This three-acre mixed-use development includes condominiums, townhomes, retail and professional office space, and above and below ground parking. Ardmore provided preliminary civil design, including storm drainage, detention storage and grading, as well as Board of Underground utilities coordination. We produced drawing sets in AutoCAD. The planned unit development is a mixed use facility containing 135 condominium units plus retail and office space. The roofs of several units are planned as gardens (green roofs). 416 W. Deming Place Condominiums Ardmore prepared civil design and construction plans for a high-end 22-unit condominium development. The building incorporates green technologies including ground source heat pumps, a green roof, and a unique, custom designed underground stormwater detention system. The water is detained in a concrete storage tank and then released at a controlled rate into the Chicago sewer system.

Duties included setting up control lines for all the sub contractors to work off of, measuring as-builts for existing structures and documenting them. Lurie Children s Memorial Hospital Ardmore provided surveying and 3-D modeling for this new construction hospital project. The hospital is a 24-story tall structure consisting of concrete and steel. Ardmore provided construction layout, establishing control lines, elevations and as-builts; and developed 3-D models of the concrete structure from the architectural, civil and structural drawings to 1/8 tolerance. RUSH Presbyterian Hospital Ardmore provided surveying for the hospital. The hospital is a 16-story tall structure consisting of concrete and steel. Ardmore provided construction layout, establishing control lines, elevations and as-builts. Joe and Rika Mansueto Library University of Chicago Ardmore provided heavy construction layouts for the University of Chicago s addition to the Regenstein Library. Duties included setting up control lines for all the contractors to work off of, measuring as-builts for existing structures and documenting them. Transportation industry Illinois Department of Transportation Ardmore provided initial control set up and layout for the Mannheim Road bridge at Franklin Avenue and Soo Line Railroad in Cook County. Illinois Department of Transportation Donald Demkovich, PLS directed field personnel on this project, while working with American Surveying and Engineering, that consisted of land acquisition along over 4 miles of Palatine Road in Cook County from U.S. Route 12 on the west to U.S. Route 45 on the east. Work included approximately 150 parcels. Illinois State Toll Highway Authority Ardmore provided heavy construction layouts for I-294 from 127th Street to Kedzie Avenue. We provided construction staking and audit of control. Ardmore provided heavy construction layouts for the I-88 Tollway reconstruction, providing construction staking and audit of control. rail industry 35th and Federal Street Settlement Survey Ardmore performed weekly settlement surveys for the reconstruction of the 35th Street METRA station located at Federal Street in Chicago, as a subconsultant to Kenny Construction. Deliverables include setting up control, field staking and all associated CAD work as well as final as-builts. AMTRAK Union Station Construction Layout, Alignments and Settlement Survey Ardmore performed construction layout for the rail yards at Amtrak s Union Station as a sub-consultant to Kiewit Western. We used existing control to provide layout for track realignment and utility construction. Additional support services included twice daily settlement surveys. Deliverables included setting up control, field staking and all associated CAD work as well as final as-builts. Oakton Street Station, Yellow Line Construction Layout, Alignments and QA/QC Ardmore performed as a sub-consultant to Rasch Construction. We performed topographical work and provided construction layout for the reconstruction of the Oakton Street Station. FIRM PRINCIPALS Cherryl T. Thomas, President & CEO Cherryl worked for the City of Chicago for 30 years in the Departments of Public Works, Water, Aviation and Buildings and as Deputy Chief of Staff for Infrastructure in the Mayor's Office. Cherryl retired as Commissioner of Buildings for the City of Chicago to accept an appointment by President Clinton as Chairman of the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board. Upon completion of her term at the Railroad Retirement Board, Cherryl founded Ardmore Associates. Dennis J. Connolly, PE, PLS, Vice President Dennis worked for the City of Chicago Departments of Public Works and Sewers for more than 30 years. He retired as the Acting Commissioner for the Department of Sewers. Dennis has held positions of Resident Engineer, Chief Engineer, First Deputy Commissioner and Acting Commissioner, and is licensed in the State of Illinois as a Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor. L.R. (Dick) Unzelman, Vice President Dick has spent over 30 years representing federal and municipal agencies and managing the development and expansion of numerous airports around the world. He led the project management office for several expansion projects at O'Hare International Airport and most recently was the project director for the redevelopment of Chicago Midway International Airport. Weston D. Parker, PE, Vice President of Operations Weston s work focuses on complex transportation projects, building and stadium construction work and airport infrastructure. He currently serves as the Lead Engineer and Assistant Site Manager for the O Hare Modernization Program South Projects. Previously he was Senior Project Manager for the firm s role in the construction services for Toyota Park. Michael A. Houston, CCM, LEED AP BD & C, Vice President of Institutional Operations Michael heads the firm s Institutional and Buildings Group.
