RESISTANCES MILANO ITALY Pag. 4 di 10 2 PROCEDURE FOR ROUTINE & HEAT RUN TYPE TEST FOR HARMONIC FILTER RESISTORS Routine tests Visual Inspection Dimensional Check Measurement of Insulation Resistance Measurement of Resistance (The resistor can be measured under DC and AC together) Inductance Test @ 50 Hz will be avoided due to poor measurement stability for inductance High Potential Test (Dielectric test @ 50Hz 1min) Resistors Cubicles Preparation The resistor will be prepared for the heat run test which means Two resistor cubicles (one phase) will be mounted & stacked on each other Internal connections will be modified by implementing 16 // paths instead of 2 (Original Design) in order to Reach Voltage Level available in the Laboratory The new resistance Value at 20 C will be of 2.59 Ohms for a complete phase. Thermo-couples will be prepared and positioned at places we estimate to be the hottest Additional thermo-couples can be used on customer demand Heat Run Tests Process Preliminary measurement of Resistance at ambient temperature Verification of thermo-couples reading The power will be applied to the resistor (50 Hz) and adjusted to get 130.1 kw dissipation: The dissipation is calculated from RMS measurements of voltage and current at steady state (power factor is negligible). Calculated Values of Voltage & Current to reach 130,1kW shall be at hot Stage: Voltage: 660 V Current: 197 A Temperature Rise will be directly measured though Thermo-couples Hot Resistance Value will be calculated through R = U / I Formula where: R is the Hot Stage Resistance Value U is the stabilized RMS Voltage Value I is the stabilized RMS Current Value

RESISTANCES MILANO ITALY Pag. 5 di 10 3 Routine test Report See data sheet enclosed- N ORT 04 05 004-27 4 Heat Run Test U is the stabilized RMS Voltage Value: 669.2 Volt I is the stabilized RMS Current Value: 195.8 A Measured temperature: 335 C t = 306 C R is the Hot Stage Resistance Value: = 669.2 /195.8 = 3.42 Ohms R = 3.42 / 2.583= 32.3% ( Variation between cold and hot stage ) Measured Value at hot stage for complet Resistor: R = (3.42*16*8 ) / 2= 218.8 Ohms Theoric Value : Rth = 214.03 Ohms ±5% (limit values are 224.7 Ohms to 203.3Ohms ) Test results : Passed 5 Measurement after the Heat Run Test Measured total value at ambient temperature R 1 : 2.603 Ohms Ambient temperature t amb : 33 C Rmax=2.720 ohms Rmin=2.461 ohms Test results : within acceptance limits
