Water Jet Solutions for Removing Pavement Marking and Runway Rubber The Leader in Water Jet Productivity
Why water jets are great for highways and runways With an NLB water jetting system, you can remove pavement markings or runway rubber faster and more thoroughly than abrasive methods, without damaging the pavement. Contractors, DOTs and airports agree that NLB rotating water jets: completely remove coatings, membranes, thermal epoxies, and rubber buildup even from grooved pavement leave concrete and asphalt undamaged create a stronger bond for restriping eliminate dust and debris, using vacuum recovery save labor, since fewer operators are needed won t expose personnel or the environment to abrasive media or chemicals. Water Jetting vs. Grinding NLB delivers the power of ultrahigh pressure water (up to 40,000 psi, or 2,800 bar) in systems that meet a wide range of customer needs. All are designed for high productivity and low operating cost. While others farm out design and/or manufacturing, NLB takes full responsibility for what it sells. We have more applications experience, in-house engineering and production capacity than anyone in the water jet industry. Water jets remove markings better than grinding, without leaving ruts. Rubber Removal Water jets help control rubber build-up while they remove old runway markings. The StarJet system has star-shaped heads that rotate the UHP water jets to maximize the force and coverage. The NLB system has proven to be the quickest, most efficient system in use. NLB offers a full range of proven solutions For specifications, see Page 6 NLB, a leader in water jet technology since 1971, was the first to apply the power of ultra-high pressure water jetting to pavement maintenance. From manual to fully automated systems, NLB still sets the standard for productivity. StripeJet maneuverability for short-line jobs StarJet the complete system for long-line jobs The StarJet is a fully-integrated system that can remove up to 7,000 linear feet of markings per hour as it drives along, or 10,000 square feet (or more) of runway rubber. The heavy-duty truck has frontmounted rotating water jet heads, robotically positioned from the cab. The system includes a water tank, high-pressure pump, vacuum system to recover water and debris, and debris tank, all carried on the truck bed. The compact StripeJet handles areas with limited access, such as parking decks, intersections, and airport aprons and gate areas. A short wheelbase and tight turning radius make the StripeJet easy to maneuver while maintaining a smooth, consistent speed (forward or reverse). Options include vacuum recovery and heads with cleaning paths from 8 to 24 (203mm to 610mm). Vortex a walk-behind unit for small jobs StarJet skid-mounted for existing trucks For customers who want a StarJet system without a new truck (as an upgrade, or for a non-u.s. chassis), we provide them skidmounted. They can be customized with the appropriate pump unit, single or dual heads, and a choice of smaller-job accessories. The semi-automated Vortex is ideal for smaller marking removal jobs that cannot justify complete systems but are too big for manual water jetting. These easy-to-handle units utilize NLB s patented SPIN JET technology at 40,000 psi (2,800 bar) pressure, with vacuum recovery.

Dual rotating heads maximize coverage, with 20-plus configurations that let you choose 8 to 24 paths for stripe removal and 20 to 60 for rubber removal. 2. Robotic assembly positions heads (raise/lower/sweep/ extend/retract/rotate) hydraulically and is operated from the cab. 4. High-uptime ULTRA-CLEAN pump (up to 10 times higher than other pumps) consistently delivers 40,000 psi water with minimal parts wear and low operating cost. 1b. Maintenance is simplified throughout the system. Nozzle changes are easy, and an auto-service mode positions the head for ready access. The UHP pump features long-life packing (800 to 2,000 hours) and seals. A new UHP seal in the front end doubles the life of the previous seal. 3. Ergonomic control console in cab has touch screen, joystick and lighted switches. It includes adjustable skip line controls so the truck can advance between skips. 5. Water reclamation system offers 3 waste handling options and allows 8-10 hours of operation between water tank refills. Vacuum recovery features include noise reduction and washable filter element. 6. Real-time monitoring, front and rear, of removal (and traffic) via high-resolution color video cameras
Superior pump performance, with a unique guarantee The pump is the heart of any water jet system, and NLB pumps have set the standard for over 40 years. Our low-rpm, low-wear design extends component life and reduces typical maintenance to just 15 minutes every 1,000 hours. The result? Unsurpassed performance and uptime. These hardworking pumps deliver water pressure of up to 40,000 psi (2,800 bar) and are easily accessible for maintenance. Should you need to run them at a lower pressure, conversion takes just 20 minutes. While some water jet systems try to operate on power diverted from the truck engine, the StarJet provides three dedicated sources of horsepower: one for the truck, one for the pump, and one for the vacuum system. So you don t have to worry that the truck engine will overload and cause downtime and service expense. Slow-rpm quintuplex plunger pump Corrosion-resistant wetted parts Tungsten carbide plungers Stainless steel filter tanks Quick-change, in-line fluid end NLB s pump parts guarantee: 1 year (standard) or 5 years In addition to being the most reliable pumps in the industry, NLB pumps are the only ones guaranteed against parts failure. Under the one-year program that comes with every StarJet, we ll replace any component that fails at no charge, so long as all procedures in NLB s operating manual have been followed. Our optional five-year program goes even further, providing a full set of replacement parts that let you keep working while we refurbish the originals for free. In neither case is NLB responsible for labor, freight or any consequential damage. Bottom line: for productivity, ease of maintenance and cost of operation, you re miles ahead with NLB and the StarJet system.
