Scopus homepage 3 6 5 4 6 Basic Search:. Begin your search on Scopus directly from the homepage. Search Fields:. Choose a field within which to perform your search. Note that the default is set to Article Title, Abstract and Keywords. Limit to: 3. Restrict your search to a particular date range, document type or subject area, if desired. Advanced Search: 4. Click on the tab for the Advanced Search where you can enter a command line search using Boolean operators. Author Search: 5. Choose the Author Search tab to search for a specific author by name. 6. Sources: Begin browsing the list of journals by title, subject area, source type and subscription status (if applicable). The source page displays active versus inactive titles, title history such as title changes and latest issues covered by Scopus.

Reviewing your search results 5 6 3 4 7 8 Scopus tab:. View the list of results from over 5,000 peer-reviewed titles in Scopus. Web tab:. View results from Scirus, the web search engine for scientific information. Patents tab: 3. View patent results from key patent offices. Selected Sources tab: 4. View a results list that displays customized search results from Scirus institutional resources and special subject collections. A Selected Sources tab will only appear if it is set up by your librarian. Sorting your results: 5. The tabular display of results allows you to easily sort your results based on year, document relevance, author(s), source title and number of times the document has been cited. Abstract + Refs: 6. Link to the abstract, references and cited-by s of a particular document. View at Publisher: 7. Link to the document at the publisher site. Entitled Full Text Linking: 8. If your library has set up entitled full text linking on Scopus, a full text link will appear. A full text link will only appear if you are entitled to it.

Refining your search 3 WITH SCOPUS YOU CAN BEGIN WITH A BROAD SEARCH AND QUICKLY REFINE YOUR RESULTS TO THOSE WHICH ARE RELEVANT TO YOUR RESEARCH. 3 Refine Results:. This box gives you a quick overview of all results of your search. From here you can refine your search by clicking on limit to or exclude for selected results across the following categories: Source Title, Author Name, Year, Document Type and Subject Area. Once you choose to limit to or exclude items, your entire result set will be recategorized appropriately. Search within results:. Here you can enter additional search terms to search within your results. This search may broaden your original search by searching in additional fields, such as References, Authors, Source title, Affiliation and Editor. Keep up-to-date: 3. Here you can easily edit and save your research as an alert. You can also add a search to your RSS Reader. Your RSS reader will retrieve the latest articles that match your search.

Author Search 4 Author Search:. The Author Search feature allows you to search for particular authors. You can search for a part or the whole author s name. Simply enter a last name and an initial or a first name if you know it, and then click on Search. 3 Author Results:. Review the results list to select the author you re interested in. The Scopus Author Identifier helps you find a person, not just a name. The preferred author name is displayed along with name variants. You can choose to display the results alphabetically or by document count. Note: Some documents in Scopus do not have sufficient information for the Author Identifier to accurately match them together, even though they are written by the same author. To ensure that your selection is complete it is advisable to review the results list and, if necessary, add any single, unmatched authors to your selection by placing a tick in the checkbox next to the name. Author Details: 3. From the author results list, click on the link Details to access the Author Details page. It displays the contextual information about the author so you can verify this is the person you re interested in. From here you can also view the author s most recently published affiliation, the number of citations received and generate a citation overview by clicking on citation tracker. The document results may be added to a list to be viewed at a later date.

Search History 5 Search History:. Following one or more searches, return to the search form to see your session-based search history at the bottom of the page. From here, you can combine two or more searches and also edit, save, or set up an alert for a particular search. You can also save searches from each session in My Profile (see page 3) for future use.
