Information on the Current Version and History 1 Information on the Current Version and History 1.1 New s The following table lists the new functions and indicates the version in which the new function was introduced: Improvements of VENICE 3.1: Version VENICE 3.1.0.39 --- VENICE 3.1.0.38 VENICE 3.1.0.37 --- Installer Enhanced overall performance by adding boot options to the grub.conf. A reboot is necessary to make these modifications active. Information on the Current Version and History 1.3 Improvements The following table lists the improvements and indicate since which version the issue could be observed: Improvements of VENICE 3.1: since VENICE 3.1.0.39 VENICE 3.1.0.38 VENICE 3.1.0.37 GUI Installer Server Server Improved GUI performance on all Mac OS X versions. Fixed temperature problem due to enhanced performance change introduced in VENICE 3.1.0.38. This could lead to activate the red front LED because the temperature is about 3 C above the defined limit. A reboot is necessary to make these modifications active. The installer prints out a message when the grub.conf was modified and therefore a reboot is needed. Re-added dvslogwatch script to /etc/init.d. This script was moved to the new location under /opt/dvs/venice/script in VENICE 3.1.0.37. Added logging of service tools/scripts to /var/log/messages under Linux. Only valid server configuration (ex: sync-settings) is saved. Important Audio Atomix HDMI firmware 7.6.2.15_7.1.5 is required (see chapter 3). Fixed a problem that could lead to wrong startup order of services under Linux when disabling and re-enabling services. Examples of possible problems: o Sync settings will be reset after a reboot instead of restoring previous settings. o Invalid license error when trying to connect to a channel. Fixed broken audio when switching from speeds other than 1.0x back to 1.0x. Release Notes R&S VENICE 3.1 4
Information on the Current Version and History 1.4 Known Issues The following table lists the known issues and indicate since which version the issue could be observed: Known Issues of VENICE 3.1: since VENICE 3.1.0.30 GUI In some very rare cases on Linux systems, the client user interface must be closed via system commands/task manager if it does not end properly. Firmware Update 3 Firmware Update Atomix HDMI firmware version 7.6.3.1_7.1.5 Please note: Updating the Atomix HDMI firmware is mandatory for all systems listed below. Since 7.6.3.1_7.1.5 Fixed rare audio input error in conjunction with asynchronous SDI switching. If the incoming SDI signal was switched outside the switching line a persisting audio disturbance could happen. 7.6.2.15_7.1.5 Fixed an issue of black pixel column on the left side of the picture which could occur when ingesting YUV422. This problem was introduced in firmware 7.6.2.13_7.1.3. Increased tolerance for RS422 baud rate deviation (ex: improved VDCP hardware compatibility). 3.1 Validity Information Firmware update is compatible for the following devices: Supported systems for firmware update: Device VENICE 2U VENICE 4U Models All models Equipped with Atomix HDMI boards 3.2 Updating the Firmware Please follow the instructions "Update the Firmware on the VENICE Server" in the user's manual delivered with your VENICE system. Before updating the firmware on the VENICE server, it is recommended to update the VENICE server software.
