UPDATES TO WEBSITE During the months of December and January, we performed a total upgrade to the www.bellevueartists.com web site. We ve attempted to improve your overall experience on this website by making the site better organized, easier to navigate and significantly reducing the loading time of all associated web pages. The following are some of the key changes you will see on our refreshed and redesigned web pages. We believe you will see an improved look and feel to the entire site. We ve tried to make the web pages less congested and busy looking. We ve reduced the page standard from three to two columns. We also changed the web page background to a canvas. We felt this was more suitable for an artistic web site. In an effort to improve navigation, we simplified the top main menu bar by eliminating all the sub-menus and adding new menu choices. We felt condensing the site to a comprehensive seven pages, would greatly simplify site navigation. We have removed several graphics from various locations within the site to promote faster loading of pages. We also removed one of the green sidebars thus eliminating sidebar weather reports, Glimpses of Bellevue and the multiple art quotes widget. We also modified all pages to utilize a more efficient caching scheme. We changed the two year-old flash slide show in the upper right hand corner to display a condensed version of 2012 Silver Palette show. However, you will still need to allow your browser to download adobe s flash program to make this slideshow and any other slideshow located throughout the site to work properly. While reorganizing the site, we often relocated the content from discontinued pages to a new location. We eliminated several pages while adding others. For example, we moved the Artist of the Month winner s database to Competitions page. We will resume updating Artist of the Month once we start receiving current photos of the winners. The majority of basic content is still located the website. If you are using a 'favorite' link or coming to this site via a search engine e.g. Google or Bing, you may find your links no longer work. Recheck any links you have to this site to verify their accuracy e.g. www.bellevueartists.org/gallery/garner.htm would have to be changed http://baacom.bellevueartists.com/garner.shtml We updated all artists profile pages. We also constructed a standard template which will be used for all future profiles. Right click protection was enabled on all profiles pages along with every page on the entire site. Note - there is no prescribed methodology to protect anything located on a web page. Applying this "protection" only stops your image being saved from the context menu. It does not prevent it being lifted using other methods. All artistic art sites and art e-zines links were verified to ensure the links are still valid. We have also added many new links. If you have ideas for a Featured Link send suggestion on the comments page We resolved several of the interoperability issues between web browsers by running W3C verification software and resolving any selected issue. We hope this solves the majority of these issues. The event archives page was updated. All links were verified. The events archives link is now located at the bottom of the Competitions page. All slide shows are and will continue to be, formatted in flash. We revised the officers and chairs listings so they reflect all the leadership changes for 2013. Feedback is very important to us. We carefully listen to what you tell us. Please use the comments page link located on various pages to provide feedback. If you think we have omitted important items or should have added others, please use the comments section to bring this to our attention. We thank you for your indulgence. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience this upgrade may have caused.
General Meeting Minutes Jan 8, 2013. We are now hanging art at Ortho West medical offices on 144th and West center Road, contact Jeff or Paula Yoachim if interested, art must be family friendly and it can be placed for sale. Our meeting was brief to allow more time for our guest artist, Deb Groesser, who gave a wonderful presentation of oil Plein air art. The next art show will be at La Casa Restaurant, March 2013 thru May 2013. Katie Peterson is in charge. We are still in need of an ANAC representative, but are talking with some interested members. I contacted the ANAC rep and we do have to personally deliver the art work to the location in Alliance NE. No specific dates are listed yet but it is usually in June. The next general meeting is Feb.12, please sign up for Anac by that date as we will need to turn in our list of members by Feb. 28. Sadly we had no artist of the month entries but did have visitors and members bring samples of their work to share.
