Messaging function (communication between portal users and DAAD & transaction archive) Function The messaging function serves as a communication hub between the applicant and the DAAD. Furthermore, the messaging function provides an overview in which all your interactions with the portal are archived. In addition to messages to you from the respective department, you will also find automated replies and confirmations from the DAAD Portal. Requirements Procedure You must have registered an account for the DAAD Portal and you must have submitted at least one application. Starting from the moment of the submission of your application, you have access to and may utilize the messaging function. 1. The messaging function is located at the bottom of the page of the "Application and Funding Overview" of the "Personal Funding" tab.
If you have already submitted more than one application, you will first need to select the correct one to view your messages. An orange background highlights the selected application. 2. The first message you will receive is an automated reply confirming the submission of your application. (A separate email will inform you that you have received a new message in the DAAD Portal.) All changes and transactions with respect to your application will also be documented in the messaging function. In order to expand and read a message, please click on the black triangle in front of the respective message line.
Attached to the confirmation of the submission of the application, you will find an PDF file titled "Application Summary". It includes your application form as well as all further documents you have submitted along with the initial application.. Please take note of the next steps required for the application process listed in the confirmation message, specifically regarding the mailing of physical copies of your forms to the information and advice center in your country (if applicable). The messaging function may serve as the communication hub between the applicant or scholarship holder and the DAAD department responsible. If you applied for a funding programme for which you additionally had to submit paper copies of the application to the "information and advice centre" in your home country, for general questions regarding the programme, requirements or filling in the application please contact this centre first. Information on your specific information and advice centre you can find in the programme advertisement at www.funding-guide.de. If you only had to submit your application online through the DAAD Portal, you can contact the DAAD department responsible via the messaging function with questions about your specific application. Furthermore, the DAAD Information-Center offers you support for general questions via study-ingermany@daad.de or by phone Mondays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (CET) at (+49) 228 882-180.
3. To write a new message simply click the New Message button and a popup window will appear in which you can enter a subject and your message. 4. After the message has been sent, it will also be listed in the messaging history.
The messaging function displays all messages you received as well as all messages you created. Every time you receive a new message, you will be notified about the matter via email. All messages send via the Portal s messaging function will be directly delivered to the DAAD department in charge of your application processing. The responsible department has access to the same messaging history as well. 5. You can either download the complete messaging history or selected messages compiled in one pdffile. Simply start this function by clicking the button History as pdf. In the popup window, please select all messages you would like to have included in the compilation. You can select messages with your computer mouse while pressing the CTRL-key at the same time. Once the selection is finished, simply start the compilation process with a click on the Create pdf button.
If you changed your personal data (i.e. your address) via the Change personal data" option in the DAAD Portal, you will find the confirmation message under the tab Personal messages instead of the tab Applications and funding. This is due to the fact that changes to personal data are valid for all application and funding processes. The message confirms the submission of your data change request and contains a copy of the form you submitted.
