HOW DOES LASER HAIR REMOVAL WORK? The hair follicle absorbs the light where a photo-thermic reaction takes place converting the light into heat. The heat targets the critical structures of the hair including the vascular supply, the bulb, sebaceous gland and often vaporises the hair itself. This way the hair follicle itself shrinks and struggles to produce more hair. WHAT MACHINE DO YOU USE? The UNO SUBZERO, which is a 810nm diode laser, considered the gold standard by many practitioners, and is safe for all skin types but best suited to skin types one to five. IM NEW TO LASER HAIR REMOVAL? If you have never had laser hair removal before we will require you to make an appointment for a consultation and patch test which takes around 20 minutes. You ll then need to wait 48 hours before you can book in for a real-time appointment. HOW DO I PREPARE FOR LASER HAIR REMOVAL? You ll need to shave the area12-24 hours before your first session. Remember that the treated hair will start to fall out of its own accord 1-2 weeks after your first treatment. Clients should wait at least six weeks after waxing or plucking and the hair must grow back naturally. Do not bleach your hair as there s no pigment in bleached hair for the laser to target. We cannot treat anyone with a tan, real or fake. If you re tanned, the laser would need to be on a higher setting which increases the chance of you getting burnt. Avoid sun exposure post-treatment as this can cause skin discolouration. CAN I HAVE LASER HAIR REMOVAL? The machine that we use (Uno Subzero) is a gold standard 810nm diode with SHR capability can fire 10 shots per every second distrubuting the enregy over a cours of time. The Uno Subzero laser machine has two delivery settings HR & SHR that can be switched between the two depending on the area of treatment. (HR) Hair Removal HR s delivery method is a sequence of single, high-energy shots. The feeling of HR is like having a light elastic band flicked against the skin. At the same time, the subzero chill tip cools the skin surface preventing superficial burns and helps to reduce the sensation of pain. The benefits with single high-energy shots will reduce the number of sessions you may require. (SHR) Super Hair Removal SHR uses multiple low-energy shots delivered in a sweeping motion that effectively damages the hair follicle and prevents re-growth whilst preventing injury to the surrounding tissue making the treatment virtually painless combined with the Subzero chill tip cools the skin surface, preventing superficial burns. More sessions may be required than with HR delivery method but great for clients that have a low pain threshold. We recommend once every 4 weeks to remove facial hair and every 6-8 weeks to remove body hair. WHAT HAPPENS DURING MY TREATMENT? You will be given a consultation prior to starting your laser treatments which includes the opportunity to be patch tested and to ask your practitioner any questions about your treatment journey. During each Laser treatment, you will be given safety goggles to wear. Our practitioners use a grid system to ensure that they target every single hair follicle for maximum results. WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER MY FIRST LASER SESSION? You may experience some reddening of the skin around where the hair used to be which could last anywhere from a few minutes to 24 hours. Sometimes the skin can feel a little bit itchy for a few hours. If you experience redness, irritation or itching for longer than 48 hours please let your practitioner know. WHAT PRODUCTS CAN I USE AFTER MY LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENT? After the treatment you must avoid perfumed products including lotions, shower gels and deodorants, fake tan for at least 2 days. You can wear mineral make up immediately which can be supplied by your clinic if you wish to cover the redness. You must avoid using products with acids, retinol and exfoliating beads for at least a week to allow the skin to fully heal. WHAT SHOULD I AVOID AFTER MY TREATMENT? For 2 days after each treatment try not to get too hot or sweaty as this can irritate the skin. Avoid using the gym, saunas, steam rooms etc and also avoid sun exposure. WHEN SHOULD I EXPECT TO SEE RESULTS? The hairs will gradually reduce throughout the course and should fall from the skin 2 weeks after each treatment. The hair will slowly grow back less and less each time and will improve with the amount of courses you have.
