number field. To retrieve a single card, enter the full text of the card number, ex. 00101. The text 000 will match the records 00001 through 00099. The text 001 will match the records 00100 through 00199. Name - Loads all card records matching the text in the search box. The search text is compared beginning from the start of the name field. If names have been entered in the format Last Name, First Name, all records with last names beginning with the letter B can be loaded with the search text B. Similarly, all card records with the last name White can be retrieved with the search text White. User Field 1 User Field 10 - Like the Card Number and Name fields, the user-defined fields can be searched for various text, using the same rules as above. See User Field section for more information. Profile - Records may be retrieved based on the access profiles assigned to them. Text entered in the search box should contain access profile substrings. Search Text Box The search text edit box holds text strings to be searched for on the Search field selection dropdown. Search Button Once the search criterion has been entered, this button initiates the search and populates the icon(s) in the cardholder view window. Cardholder View The cardholder view shows the cardholder records retrieved from the selection bar above. Each cardholder record is represented by a badge icon and accompanying text which identifies the record. Different icon colors are used to identify the different card designs each card uses. The text display can be card number, name, or both as set up Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 7 of 36

in the Setup dialog. Icons may be double clicked to display the card edit dialog (see Step 3 - Adding New Badge Record) if the badge preview is not open. By rightclicking over an icon a pop-up menu is displayed providing edit, preview, print and summary commands. Many of Hurricane Asure ID Badge s commands act on the records selected in this window. The Print Badges command, for example, will print all records selected in this window. A single record may be selected by left-clicking it with the mouse. A group of one or more records may be selected by depressing the Ctrl key while leftclicking each desired icon. Alternatively, a group of consecutive records may be selected by depressing the Shift key and selecting the start and end records. Status Bar The Status Bar provides contextual help for selected menu commands, as well as the current Hurricane Server connection status, and position of the CAPS, INS, and Numlock keys. Server connection status may be one of the following states: Offline - There is no connection with the Hurricane server. The server may not be running, or the server name entered in the Setup dialog may be incorrect. Online - Hurricane Badge is currently connected with the Hurricane server. Error - Hurricane Badge could not authenticate itself with the Hurricane server. This occurs if the CD-Key numbers (or serial numbers) installed at the badging station do not match those at the server. Icon Views (Large, Small, List, Details) Hurricane Badge can display selected cardholder records in one of four formats: Large Icon, Small Icon, List, and Details view. With the exception of Details view, each record is displayed as an icon with one of card number, name, or both, as the Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 8 of 36

icon s text. Details view displays all record fields in a tabular format and can be accessed from the icon or from the menu bar as shown below. Select View -> Details: Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 9 of 36

User Field The User Field can be accessed by selecting Edit -> Personnel Field Names. There are 10 fields that can be customized accordingly. Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 10 of 36

System Setup Before using the Hurricane Badge software, a valid connection must be established with the Hurricane server. This is accomplished through the System Properties dialog, accessed from the Edit menu. Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 11 of 36

Display Options The Display Options group box permits an operator to choose from one of three display formats in the main window. By default, just the card number is shown beside each card icon. This can be changed to either cardholder name, or a card number/name combination. An option for color coded icons may be selected to display the same color for card records that use the same card design. Operation The Hurricane Server Machine Name entry must be filled in with the machine name of the computer where Hurricane server is running. If Hurricane Asure ID Badge is configured properly, the Online indicator will be displayed in the status bar. This indicates a connection established with the Hurricane server. The Offline indicator is displayed if the server is not available, or if the Server Name entry is incorrect. Changes to the Server Name entry require Hurricane Asure ID Badge to be re-started in order to take effect. Login Required (if checked off) is used to request login password from an operator. Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 12 of 36

Asure ID Setup The Default Template dropdown lets you select a previously created and saved template that will be assigned to users if their originally assigned template is deleted. The Badge Printer dropdown provides a dropdown menu for selection of a default badge printer installed on your computer. Input Devices Before any images can be captured by Hurricane Asure ID Badge, the appropriate capture technology for your camera must be selected from the Input Device Configuration dropdown menu. Introduction to Designing a Badge This chapter presents a quick overview of the badge design, capture and production process. Our goal is to provide just the basics so that you can get it up and running as soon as possible. Step 1- Designing a Badge New badge designs are created through the HID Asure ID package. For the purposes of this example, a simple design is presented. Start Asure ID from the Start menu and perform the following steps. 1. From the Asure ID main application window choose File, then New Template. The New Template popup will appear. Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 14 of 36

2. Select card size and number of sides. 3. Select card orientation. 4. Select magstripe properties 5. Click OK to continue. Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 15 of 36

The badge design interface will be displayed: Step 2 - Adding Card Fields You can add photo or data fields to the card by selecting the Photo and Data Field icons from the program s toolbar. To add a photo field: 1. Select the Photo icon from the toolbar. Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 16 of 36

2. Click anywhere on the card design template to place the photo field. The following Photo Properties window will appear: 3. In the Field Name dropdown, select Photofield1. In the Format type dropdown, select.jpg, as this is the image format used by the Hurricane Asure ID Badge software. Click OK. Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 17 of 36

1. Move and size the field as required. To add a text field(s): 1. Select the Data Field icon from the toolbar. Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 18 of 36

2. Click anywhere on the card design template to place a data field. The following Data Field Properties window will appear: All Data Fields (except for the photo field) must be set to the Text Field Type. 3. In the Field Name dropdown you will find a list of available field names. The field names and corresponding field contents are: Field Name Field Contents EmployeeID Card Number Name Name Validate Validate Date Void Void Date Field1 User Field 1 Field2 User Field 2 Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 19 of 36

Field3 User Field 3 Field4 User Field 4 Field5 User Field 5 Field6 User Field 6 Field7 User Field 7 Field8 User Field 8 Field 9 User Field 9 Field10 User Field 10 Profile User s Access Profile Select a field name. Click OK. 4. Move and size the field as required. Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 20 of 36

5. Add, move, and size additional fields as required. 6. To save the card template, click on the application menu icon, and then click on Save Template As. Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 21 of 36

7. The Save Template window will appear. Type a name into the Template Name field, and then click OK to save it. Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 22 of 36

Step 3 Adding New Card Record Now that we have a badge design created, we can begin adding new records and assigning them to this badge design. For this tutorial, we have created only a single design, however as many designs as required may be created. Card records can be assigned to any one of the saved designs. While in Hurricane Asure ID Badge, select Edit, and click on Add New Card Record or click on the New Card button. For this example, we will assume that card 1 is not defined. You should see the following window. Enter card number and select the badge template you would like to use for this user. Badge template assignment may be edited on the Design tab of the Cardholder window, which we will discuss later in this section. Click OK: Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 23 of 36

The first tab of this dialog contains the card identification fields which consist of Card ID Number, Name, and Handicap related information. Enter the name of the person who will be issued this badge, and select the Date tab. Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 24 of 36

Set Card Record Status to Active. Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 25 of 36

Select the Access tab and assign a Base Access Profile for this cardholder: The Access tab establishes the access privileges for the cardholder at the various doors in the site. By default, the card has no access profile, as well as an inactive status. Choose the appropriate privileges or leave the defaults in place. Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 26 of 36

Next select the Fields tab, and enter information related to the user: Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 27 of 36

The Design tab is where we assign card designs, take photos and print badges. The Template selection dropdown lists the available card designs. Choose an available design from the list. If you intend to print the badge, choose the appropriate printer from the list. After completing this step, you may now capture a new cardholder image with the Capture button if a camera has already been connected and set up in the software, or import a pre-taken.jpg cardholder image with the Import button without a live camera. You may also view the current card design with the Preview Button and print the badge with the Print button. Select the Design tab, and at the Template dropdown select the Asure ID project you created earlier: Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 28 of 36

Select Import to select and add a photo that is stored on your hard drive: Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 29 of 36

Click the Preview button: Click the Close button in the Print Preview window to close the preview window. Capture Image The Capture Image command provides an easy means by which to capture new images without opening up each card record and selecting the Design tab. Capture Image can be invoked from the File -> Capture Image menu, or from the toolbar button: Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 30 of 36

This command captures a new photo for the first selected card record in the cardholder interface. If more than one record has been selected, the additional records are ignored. Position the subject in front of the camera, and select the capture command. After a brief delay, the photo will be taken and downloaded. Print Badges The Print Badges command prints a group of one or more badges based on the card records selected in the cardholder view of Hurricane Badge. Print Badges can be invoked from the File -> Print Badges menu item, or from the toolbar button : Edit Selected Card Record Card records can be selected from the cardholder view of Hurricane Badge and edited from the Edit Selected Card Record command: Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 31 of 36

Like the Capture Image command, only the first selected card record in the folder area will be edited. If more than one record has been selected, the additional records are ignored. The command may be accessed from the Edit -> Edit Selected Card Record command, or the toolbar button: Additionally, the card record icons may be edited by double-clicking them, or right clicking and selecting the popup menu. This action is only available if the badge preview window is not open: Copy Selected Card Record The Copy Selected Card Record command provides a means to easily issue new badges, without taking a new photo and re-entering record data: Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 32 of 36

Select the badge you wish to copy from the folder window and choose the Copy Card command. You will be prompted for the card number of the new record: Enter this number and the card edit dialog will be displayed. You can make additional changes to the record now, or just press OK to save and validate it. Delete Selected Card Record The Delete Card command deletes the currently selected record from the database and voids the card at all card readers: The command may be accessed from the Edit -> Delete Card command, or the toolbar button: Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 33 of 36

Preview Badge The Preview Badge command provides a convenient means to view a badge without printing it. Select a record from the folder window and then the preview command. A graphical representation of the badge will be displayed on screen, if the card record has been assigned a valid badge template: Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 34 of 36

If the card template assigned to the user has been created with a back side, the rear of the badge can be previewed by advancing the Page number in the Print preview window to Page 2. Alternately, you can preview the badge by right clicking on a cardholder and selecting Preview Badge from the popup menu. Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 35 of 36

Creating a Summary Report To create a user Summary Report, select a cardholder. Then under File, select Summary Report. You should see the following window: Hurricane Asure ID Badge Page 36 of 36
