2 Vilara St. 10437 +30 210 5249879 DAY 1 Arrival - Athens City Tour Meet and assist at Athens International Aiport. Transfer to the hotel. Depending on arrival time we will able to do our first bike tour. A city tour around Athens historical centre learning the city's history and visiting the most important monuments. The end of the tour will find us tasting wine and local specialties in a wine bar. Duration 4 hours Marathon DAY 2 Breakfast at our hotel and then transfer to Stamata area at a distance of 27km from the centre of Athens for the next bike tour. We start peddalling through olive trees and vineyards towards Marathona Lake, and then to Marathon Vilage where the famous Marathon Battle took place. We visit the point of start of the original Marathon race and then we move on to Shinias beach and the Olympic Rowing Centre. Soon after, we cycle coast to coast using one of the best bike lanes in Attika to reach Nea Makri for the end of the tour. A small stop and then transfer to a fantastic winery in the area where the tour began for wine tasting and lunch with local specialties. Return to our hotel in Athens at afternoon. Total distance covered by bike: 37 km Total ascension height: 350m DAY 3 Epidavros Breakfast and check out of the hotel. We leave Athens today and we move to Epidavros where we will cycle. Epidavros is located 133km from Athens, approximately 1 1/2 drive from Athens and consider to be one of the most important cities of Ancient Greece. The most well preserved ancient theatre in Greece is located in the area and it was built in 360 B.C. As soon as we arrive we start our tour with a small tour around this beautiful seaside city and then we cycle towards Lygourio at a distance of 13km. There we will visit a distillery of olive oil and learn about the production of virgin olive oil. Then we cycle again for 5km to reach the archeological site of Sanctuary of Asklepios, which is the most important Sanctuary of ancient Greece, and the one of a kind ancient theatre of Epidavros. Return to our hotel in Palia Epidavros. Total distance covered by bike: 36 km Total ascension height: 300m
2 Vilara St. 10437 +30 210 5249879 DAY 4 Nafplio We enjoy breakfast and the we drive for 38 km to reach Nafplio. A beautiful historic seaport town in the Peloponnese. It s the ideal destination for cycling and enjoys a very sunny and mild climate, even by Greek standards. At Nafplio, we grab our gear and we start cycling around the city. A small but interested museum, the Komboloi Museum will be our first stop. Then we are heading towards visiting the Naflio Annex of the National Gallery. It houses historical paintings from the National Gallery collections, related to the Greek War of Independence (1821-1829), thus pointing to the city of Nafplio as the first capital of Greece. Ending at the famous Constitutional Square where we pay a visit to the Archeological Museum located in an imposing building of the 18th century. Then we start our grand cycling tour. About eight (8) km further we stop to visit the Archaeological Site of Tiryns. A monument protected by UNESCO. Soon after that we have non-stop cycling though villages and many orange trees. We end up our ride at a local winery where we will a nice tour around its facilities, we drink magnificent Greek wines, we taste delicious Greek finger food and enjoying Greek hospitality. Return to our hotel at Nafplio by car. Total distance covered by bike: 30 km Total ascension height: 150m DAY 5 Nafplio - Mycenae Breakfast with local products and Greek coffee will be the first thing we do the next morning. After that, pure cycling heading for one of most important Archeological sites in Greece: The ancient city of Mycenae. The greatest city of Mycenaean civilization, which dominated the eastern Mediterranean world from the 15th to the 12th century B.C. The city is indissolubly linked to the Homeric epics, the Iliad and the Odyssey, which have influenced European art and literature for more than three millennia. After the visit of the archeological site where you can imagine what this civilization achieved thousands years before we are heading by bike back to Nafplio. 2 Vilara St. 10437 +30 210 5249879 DAY 6 Nafplio - Corinth - Athens Breakfast, check out from the hotel and then transfer to Corinth area at a distance of 50 km. Corinth was one of the biggest city-states of the Greek ancient civilization. The tour will start after we visit Acrocorinth, the citadel of the city-state. Then we start cycling towards the Ancient city of Corinth where we have the change to visit the ruins of this ancient civilization. Soon after we cycle to reach the sea and what is left from the ancient port of the Corinth. We also encounter ruins from another era. A Basilica from the Byzantium times. The tour ends with free time for swimming and a delicious traditional Greek meal by the sea. During our return to Athens we also visit the famous Canal of Corinth. Arrival at Athens at late afternoon. Total distance covered by bike: 25 km Total ascension height: 200m Mesoghia DAY 7 After breakfast transfer to Mesoghia area and Markopoulo city. Mesoghia is a truly blessed region which has connected its name with wine-growing for thousands of years now. According to the legend, Greek God Dionysus entrusted the city of Athens with the cultivation of vineyards and also the art of drinking wine. A ride around Mesoghia will give us the opportunity to enjoy cycling on safe paved roads, passing through vineyards and olive groves, sightseeing in archeological sites and relaxing at a local beach. We start off our ride from Markopoulo and the old train station and we are heading towards the ancient temple of Artemis and Vravrona s Museum, one of the most important museums in all Attica. On the way we visit the small picturesque chapel of Panagia Varampa and we pass a medieval tower in Vravrona, used for communication purposes. There are many wineries in the area open for visit. We will have the chance to visit one of them in order to have a wine tour and to taste the wines of the premises and to enjoy a delightful light meal. After the winery experience we are heading to Porto Rafti, a small seaside city where we can enjoy a coffee by the sea or even swimming. Return to our hotel in Athens.
