Flexible Fundraising This Flexible Fundraising Program is designed to give families maximum flexibility and choice. SHS families are asked to participate in any or all of the fundraisers listed below. For the 2014-2015 school year the minimum fundraising requirement per family is $225 in Revenue Earned. Although $225 is the minimum requirement for each family, we encourage everyone to set a personal goal of $300 or more to ensure the health, success and growth of our school s programs and facilities. If your family does NOT wish to participate in the variety of fundraising programs offered to meet the minimum fundraising requirement, you may choose to pay the OPT-OUT FEE of $450 per family. This is a convenient, quick and easy method to meet your financial responsibility and it can be paid at registration, or any time throughout the school year. Your $225 requirement must be met by May 31, 2015 or you will be required to pay the opt-out fee of $450. Fundraising balances must be current by the end of June 2015 for your fall registration to be complete. To calculate your total Revenue Earned for each option, the following percentages apply: Option Revenue Earned Timing Scrip** Purchase amounts x 5% = Rev. Earned On-Going Magazine Purchased Amounts x 45% = Rev. Earned 09/12 10/01 Jogathon Pledges Collected x 80% = Rev. Earned May 19, 2015 **Please note the fundraising contribution from Scrip can be easily tracked through your Scrip account. The percentage varies by merchant and may fluctuate throughout the year (ie. Some merchants offer sales at various times of the year during which the percentage offered is higher than normal). SHS and Parents Club will track the data from the various fundraisers and send each family their statement twice during the school year - once in November, and once in April in an effort to keep families informed of their fundraising status. Questions? Please contact Cristin Donovan (crisdonovan@yahoo.com). The following provides Sample Scenarios incorporating the options above and may assist you in choosing which option(s) are best for you: Sample Revenue Scenarios Scrip Magazines Jogathon Earned #1 $4500 x 5% $225 $3500 x 5%= #2 $175 $100x45%=$45 $274 #3 $180x45%=$81 $200x80%= $160 $241 #4 $6000 x 5% =$300 $100x80%=$80 $462

Scrip is a great way to support Sacred Heart School while purchasing the items your family already buys groceries, clothes, gasoline, gifts, home improvement items, even hotels and cruises! Scrip is purchased for the amount desired and spent like any other gift card. Earnings for each purchase vary by business (e.g., QFC offers 5%, Gap/Old Navy offers 14%, and Amazon offers 3%). Purchasing Scrip is easy to do online. To setup an online account, please follow the steps below: Create an account at www.shopwithscrip.com. After creating the account, you will be prompted for an enrollment code. Our school code is BLB354F953L1. The Shop With Scrip website (www.shopwithscrip.com) is set up to purchase scrip cards, reload cards previously purchased through the scrip program, and purchase scrip that can be printed out any time from your home printer. Cards ordered on a regular basis by families can be added to your Favorites List and added to an order with a single click. How soon cards are available depends on the method of payment. Please refer to the chart on the following page. We encourage families to sign up for PrestoPay. Jogathon The Sacred Heart Jogathon is fast becoming an annual tradition that is held during school hours in the Spring. Last year was our fourth annual event and the students raised over $59,000 in pledges in support of Sacred Heart School! In addition, the students and their classrooms had a fun challenge to compete for hitting classroom goals for exciting class prizes. Teachers and staff participated as well. They enjoyed exercise, community, music, refreshments and sunshine. A great time was had by all! Our 5th Annual SHS Jogathon, Run for the Heart, will be held May 19, 2015. Families will receive fundraising credit for 80% of pledges received. Watch for Jogathon information to come home with students in March and April. 99pledges.com/fund/sacredheart

Treasures of Faith Sacred Heart School Annual Fund The Sacred Heart School Treasures of Faith Annual Fund is a fund to which school families, friends, and parishioners donate annually. Gifts to the Treasures of Faith Annual Fund are 100% tax deductible. These funds are essential and used each year to support the school s operating expenses for that given year and allow us to provide a quality education to our students each year. Catholic education should be made accessible to all that want it, so we strive to keep tuition low. Tuition alone does not cover the cost to educate each child who attends Sacred Heart School. There is a gap for each student between tuition and the true cost to educate every child. The donations from the Annual Fund are a significant bridge for this gap. Matching corporate gifts are a great way to increase your donation. Many employers offer up to a 100% percentage match as a benefit to their employees. Please contact your benefits coordinator to find out if your employer offers this great benefit. It is our goal to have 100% participation from our Sacred Heart families. Any gift helps and we understand that some can give more than others. Please prayerfully consider and give what you are able to allow our children the very best education. Consider providing support to the Sacred Heart School Treasures of Faith Annual Fund over time. By committing a modest monthly amount over a oneyear pledge period, a significant gift can be made to support Sacred Heart School. These monthly amounts are levels of commitment that many can afford, while writing a check for the total amount is possible for very few of us. Pledging over time maximizes your giving to the Sacred Heart School Treasures of Faith Annual Fund. The Treasures of Faith Annual Fund runs from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015. Payments can be made at any time by check or on-line through the SHS website. (Please note, the Treasures of Faith Annual Fund is NOT the same as Fund a Need or the Annual Parish Appeal.) If you have any questions, please contact Theresa Daigle, Development Director at 425-451-1773 ext. 107 or tdaigle@sacredheart.org.

Treasures of Faith Sacred Heart School Annual Fund Questions and Answers about the Treasures of Faith Annual Fund. Q: Is 100% parent and community participation that important? A: YES! 100% participation is as important as meeting our overall financial goal. Before outside funding sources, such as foundations, will consider donating their dollars, they want to know that Sacred Heart families, faculty, and staff are supporters as well. After all, if the people who directly benefit are not willing to support the school, why should an outsider? Q: Why not charge the full cost for the services provided rather than asking for gifts? Why doesn't Sacred Heart School just raise tuition to cover the additional expenses? A: A schools primary mission is to provide children with a good education. By their very nature, excellent schools are labor-intensive and peopleoriented. Moreover, the costs of faculty salaries and benefits and building/ maintenance, to a large degree, drive the cost of an independent school education. In order to offer competitive salaries to faculty and staff and to provide desirable programs, Sacred Heart has to do the following: raise tuition; pursue corporate and foundation gifts; and ask you for a gift to the Treasures of Faith Annual Fund. Q: I already pay the full tuition amount as a non-catholic family, why should I participate in the Treasures of Faith Annual Fund as well? A: Your gift to the Annual Fund is for the benefit of all families seeking Catholic education for their children. We do not want the expense of tuition to prohibit qualified students from attending our school. It is especially important that tuition remain as affordable as possible in order to serve all families choosing a Catholic education. As a result, we must work diligently to keep tuition costs down so that the school remains affordable to as many families as possible.

Treasures of Faith Sacred Heart School Annual Fund Making Your Donation Q: I have no idea how much to contribute what is the suggested donation level? A: We hope that Sacred Heart families will choose to make their children's school their philanthropic priority. All stakeholders in the success of Sacred Heart School should prayerfully discern a meaningful amount to donate. A suggested gift of $1,000 will help to provide high-quality education services for our student population. Q: I want to make a sizeable contribution. Is it possible to spread it out over time? A: To make a donation that spreads over several months, we ask that you fill out the Annual Fund Commitment Form, including on it the total amount you wish to donate for this year and the increments in which you wish to make your donation. Payment options include check, MasterCard, or VISA. We can also send reminders at intervals that work best for you. Q: Will I receive a tax benefit from my donation? A: Yes. Sacred Heart School is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation under the laws of the United States. No goods or services will be received in exchange for your gift, so it will be tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law. Written recognition of your gift will be provided for tax purposes. (Note that the amount donated is tax-deductible in the year in which it is deposited by Sacred Heart School.) Q: Is there anything I can do to encourage my employer to contribute to the school? A: Yes. Many employers offer Matching Gift programs. In some cases, gifts from spouses, directors, and retired employees will be matched as well. Please take the time to determine whether your employer offers such a program it could serve to double your donation! Do not hesitate to ask the school for whatever documentation you might need in order to facilitate a matching gift. Q: Is it possible to make a memorial or in honor of gift? A: Memorial gifts gifts in memory of someone you loved or admired are a particularly meaningful way to contribute to the Sacred Heart School Treasures of Faith Annual Fund. In honor of gifts for all occasions (a student's birthday or parents' anniversary, for example) are also lasting tributes.

Sacred Heart School Endowment Sacred Heart School has established an Endowment to ensure the financial security of Sacred Heart School for future generations. Our Endowment is a permanent fund, the principal of which is never spent. The principal is invested, earning annual interest income. That income is available for the school to use for financial aid and to support the school s programs. Because the principal is never spent, the fund lasts forever, supporting the school in perpetuity. Because the Endowment is a permanent fund, gifts to the SHS Endowment last forever and give forever. Your gift to the Endowment will give to the School now and every year as long as the school is standing. In a very real sense, our Endowment is our legacy. It is a statement of our faith in the value of Catholic education. It is our gift not only to our children, but to future generations of children as well. The income from the Endowment will be available to provide financial aid to those families who could not otherwise afford to send their children to Sacred Heart. The income from the Endowment may also be used support operating expenses which will help keep tuition as low as possible and help keep the school affordable for our parish families. Financial contributions to the Sacred Heart School Endowment are encouraged and most enthusiastically welcomed. Contributions to the SHS Endowment are a wonderful way to mark a special occasion, such as a birthday or anniversary. It is also a thoughtful way to make a memorial gift to honor a loved one. There are many ways to make a gift to the Sacred Heart School Endowment. A check payable to SHS Endowment to the Parish Office. A pledge to the Endowment to be paid over a period of one-to-five years. A gift of stock or securities to the Endowment. Remember the Endowment in your will. Please remember: gifts to the Sacred Heart School Endowment are 100% tax deductible. Also, employer matching funds will double your gift. Please make your gift, and establish your legacy, to the Sacred Heart School Endowment. Contact Theresa Daigle, SHS Development Director at 452-451-1773 ext. 107 or email tdagile@sacredheart.org for more information.
