1 Online License Plate Voucher Sales Guide Overview Big Brothers Big Sisters license plate vouchers can now be purchased online at for $34.26 including all taxes and service fees!!! With your help, and a team effort across the state, we have no doubt that we can hit our goal of selling 1,000 vouchers by June 1, Please encourage fellow staff, board members and close agency friends to purchase vouchers. Remember these specialty plates will help generate much-needed revenue to expand mentoring opportunities for children in Florida. Thank you for your participation and enthusiasm!

2 Online Payment Process The online payment system allows customers to purchase vouchers for themselves and/or purchase vouchers as a gift for someone else. The top form titled Purchase your Presale License Plate Voucher! is for customers who are purchasing their own voucher. The second form titled Please Only Complete if Buying as a Gift is for customers purchasing the vouchers as a gift. If a customer would like to purchase multiple gift vouchers, they will have to complete each transaction separately. License Plate Forms pictured below:

3 Step-by-Step Process 1. Go to (if you have not visited the site in awhile make sure to refresh your browser). 2. On the homepage locate the appropriate form: Purchase your Presale License Plate Voucher! or Please Only Complete if Buying as a Gift. 3. Make sure you accurately fill out the form. All fields must be complete in order for the tax collector to process the voucher. 4. Click the Buy Now Button once the form is completely filled out, you will then be prompted to log in to your PayPal Account or pay as a guest.

4 5. If you pay as a guest, you must enter your contact information again (name, address, phone & ) then click Continue. 6. You are then prompted to the Payment Page, where you have the option to pay with your debit or credit card (Visa, MC, Discover & AMEX). You also have the choice to sign up for a PayPal account. After inputting your payment information, click the Review and Continue button. 7. Review your billing address and contact information for accuracy then click the Pay button to complete the transaction. 8. If you paid as a guest, PayPal will prompt you again to sign-up for an account, click the No Thanks button and then the completed payment page will generate. PayPal will you a receipt with your order summary. 9. After the St. Lucie Tax Collectors office has processed your order, they will mail you a hard copy of your Specialty License Plate Voucher Receipt. 10. Once the license plates are produced, bring your Specialty License Plate Voucher Receipt to any tax collectors office in Florida to pick-up your plate! It s that simple!

5 License Plate FAQ Q. How much does a voucher cost? a. $34.26 including all taxes and services fees. Q. Where can I purchase a voucher? a. Vouchers can be purchased online at Q. How long do I have to wait for plate? a. 1,000 vouchers must be purchased on or before June 1, Once 1,000 vouchers have been purchased production of plates will begin. Q. What happens if not enough vouchers are sold and the plates are not produced? a. If the organization does not meet the pre-sale requirement of 1,000 by June 1, 2015, the specialty plate will be de-authorized, and the department will discontinue development and issuance of the pre-sale voucher. Upon de-authorization, the purchaser of a pre-sale voucher may use the annual use fee he/she paid as credit towards any other specialty license plate or apply for a refund. Q. How many vouchers must be sold to start fabrication of plates? a. 1,000 vouchers must be sold. Q. Is this purchase considered a donation that can be used as a tax write off? a. The extra fees are a donation to the specific charity and are usually taxdeductible. In order for a charitable contribution to be deducted, it must be given to a qualified, recognized non-profit organization. The exact amount of the contribution is the only cost that qualifies as a tax write-off. The cost of the license plate itself is not deductible. Charitable contributions are only available to taxpayers who itemize their deductions. Q. How much of the proceeds actually go to BBBS? a. Information on where the money goes from the annual use fees on specialty license plates is available from a number of sources. The Florida Statutes is the most direct information available, however, the Division of Motor Vehicles also provides a Specialty License Plate Report, which specifies this information.

6 Q. Do the funds go to individual agencies? a. The annual use fees from the sale of the plate shall be distributed to Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of Florida, Inc., which may use up to 10 percent of such fees for administrative costs and marketing of the plate. The balance of the fees shall be used by Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of Florida, Inc., to promote mentoring initiatives throughout Florida. Q. What if my plate is not up for renewal? Can I still purchase the voucher? a. You can upgrade your plate at any time. If your plate s cycle is not up to replace the metal, there will be a small additional fee. Q. Can I purchase a license plate as a gift? a. The Department has authorized the issuance of specialty license plate gift certificates. You can purchase gift vouchers at This new program allows anyone to purchase a specialty license plate as a gift for a motor vehicle registrant. Once a gift certificate is purchased, the money is given to the sponsoring plate entity as specified by Florida Statutes. Therefore, refunds are not available for gift certificates.
