On the following pages you ll find a series of exercises that will introduce you to the features and functions available through the Quote List app. Each exercise is marked with this icon, along with a summary of the exercise. Just follow the instructions in the left hand column to complete the exercise. Visuals are provided in the right hand column to guide you and to show you what your screen should look like. BEFORE YOU START The Thomson Reuters Eikon Home Page displays the most relevant information based on your job role. Some of the examples in this workbook are based on a Home Page tailored for Fixed Income markets. Click the Edit link in the Professional Profile section. 3. Select Fixed Income Portfolio Manager from the list of Job Roles. 4. Click Save. Your Home Page will update to display Fixed Income information. 3

CREATE A QUOTE LIST IN A FLEX DOCUMENT The Quote List enables you to create, monitor and manage portfolios. In this activity we ll create a new Quote List to display the constituents of the Hang Seng index. To begin, open a blank Flex Document. In an empty frame, click Add Quote List. The open Quote List dialogue displays, giving you the option to select a previously created Quote List or Create a New List. Click Create New Quote List... Note that when you hover over a Quote list, a trash bin icon will appear at right. You can click this icon to delete the list. Give your Quote List a name. Then click OK. 4

A new blank Quote List is displayed. We ll now add our instruments. In the command line, type Hang Seng. As you type, Thomson Reuters Eikon displays a number of possible matches, including recently-used instruments, in a dropdown menu. You can click on any instrument code to add it to the quote list. For this example, select the Hang Seng Index. Note: If you don t see a good match, click the Other results for link at the bottom of the dropdown to open Search. To view the complete list of constituents in the index, click the arrow at left, next to.hsi. The full list of constituents is now displayed. The Quote List will be automatically saved as you add instruments or make changes. 5

CUSTOMIZING THE QUOTE LIST The Quote List is created with a default set of fields, but there are many others to choose from. Add columns to a Quote List displaying the Dividend and Yield. To begin, create a Quote List and populate it with a list of instruments. (In the example at right, we ve used the constituents of the FTSE 100.) Click Templates, then Add/Remove Columns to view a range of popular fields Click More to see all available fields. You can browse the asset folders or type a field name in the search command line. First, we ll add the Dividend field by browsing the available fields. Open the Equity folder. Select Dividend. Then click Add. 6

Now let s try searching for a field. Type Yield in the command line. Then click Search. Select Yield. Then click Add. Then click OK to return to return to the Quote List. The Dividend and Yield fields are now visible in the table. Note that the Quote List can be used in multiple Flex Documents, and any changes made are automatically updated in all instances of the Quote List. Click the News icon to view news related to all constituents of the Quote List. The news headlines will appear in a pop-out window. 7

VIEWING A PORTFOLIO You can monitor your portfolio activity in a Quote List, and use Thomson Reuters Eikon s powerful real-time analysis tools to monitor its activity. Open an existing portfolio in a Quote List app. In this activity, you will learn how to open an existing portfolio in a Quote List app. If you want your screens to match the examples at right exactly, create a portfolio called Global Blended before beginning this activity. However, you can complete the activity using any existing portfolio. To begin, open a blank Quote List. Then type the portfolio name in the command line. The AutoSuggest tool returns a list of possible matches, arranged by data type. Select the Portfolio you wish to open. The portfolio will open in the Quote List app. Click the plus icon next to the portfolio title to view the full list of constituents. 8

The portfolio constituents are imported into the Quote List, which displays summary data in the top line, including: Market Value Total Profit and Loss Percentage change And the currency. To view your portfolio in a pre-built template, open the Templates menu, and select Portfolio. The Portfolio template displays additional fields, including your current holding, currency and weighting. Click on the News icon to view the latest news headlines for companies in your portfolio. The headlines will appear in a pop-out window. 9

AUTOMATE YOUR WORKFLOWS USING LINKING Thomson Reuters Eikon allows you to link a Quote List to many apps including News, Charts, and Calculators. Link a Quote List populated with a list of equities to the Stock Return Calculator. To begin, create a 2-frame Flex Document. Populate the frame on the left with any list of equities. (In the example at right, our list is populated with the FTSE 100 constituents.) Add the Stock Return Calculator to the frame at right. To open the Stock Return Calculator: Click Add other in an empty Flex frame. Select Calculator from the list of available apps. Open the Stock Return calculator from the Equities and Derivatives section. To link the apps, right-click inside the Quote List and select Link To. Then choose the app that you want to link to, which in this case is the Calculator. Now click Advanced Link. This will populate the calculator when you click an instrument in the Quote List. 10

Now indicate whether you want the calculator to populate with a double or single click. For this example, click When I click a Quote List item, use it for calculation. Then click OK. Now, whenever you click an instrument in the quote list, the calculator will automatically refresh with data for that company. 11

LINKING THE QUOTE LIST TO THE SIDEBAR The Sidebar provides a view to key market and trading data for a specific instrument and an overview of the performance of the entire Quote List. In this activity you will link a Quote List to the Sidebar app; then explore the information available through the Sidebar. In this activity we ll add a Sidebar to an empty frame and link it to a Quote List. Note that the Sidebar only functions when linked to the Quote List app. To begin, create a 2-frame Flex Document. Populate the frame at left with a Quote List. (In the example at right we used the constituents of the FTSE 100.) Now we ll add a Sidebar to the empty frame and link it to the Quote List. In the blank frame select Add other Select Sidebar and click OK. 12

The sidebar now appears in the frame at right. Now right click in the Quote List. Select Link to Sidebar Default Link. The Sidebar updates, displaying a summary of the performance of the Quote List including the Top and Bottom movers, Sector Performance, and information relating to Upcoming Economic Releases and Events. You can click on a sector to drill down further. Let s click on Technology. 13

Now click on any Upcoming Event to view the event details. The event details will appear in a new tab. Now return to the Flex Document. Click any instrument in the Quote List to view market data and events relating to that item. 14

Use the radio buttons at the top right to toggle to the Trading View. The Trading view contains intra-day and trading volume information. Click the arrow icon to close the item view and return to the summary view. 15

THE SNAPSHOT APP The Snapshot App provides an overview of intraday, fundamental, estimates and ratios data for an instrument. Open the Snapshot app and link it to a Quote List. To begin this exercise, create a 2-frame Flex document. Then populate one of the frames with any Quote List. (In the example at right we used the constituents of the FTSE 100.) To add the Snapshot app to the empty frame, click Add Other. Select Snapshot from the list of Apps. Then click OK. 16

You can either enter an instrument code in the app command line or link the Snapshot app to a Quote List. We ll type a symbol in the command line. Refer to the topic Linking to learn how to link the snapshot app to a Quote List. Type ADML.L in the command line. The app populates with snapshot information on your selected company. You can resize the Snapshot to show more data. Hover over the edge of the app. When a cursor with double arrows appears, drag the frame to your desired size. Try making the Snapshot app smaller by dragging the right side of the app towards the left. The app now fits in the frame exactly, allowing for more of the Quote List data to appear onscreen. 17

THE QUOTE LINE The Quote Line app allows you to view the market and price data most relevant to you for any instrument. Open the Quote Line app, link it to a Quote List, and customize the fields displayed. To begin this exercise, create a Flex Document. Populate one frame with a Quote List. (In the example at right we used the constituents of the FTSE 100.) To add the Quote Line app, click Add other in an empty frame. Select Quote Line. Then click OK. The blank Quote Line app appears. You can type an instrument code in the command line or link the Quote Line to a Quote List. 18

Let s link it to the Quote List. Right click inside the Quote List. Then select: Link to>quote Line>Default Link You can now click on any item in the Quote List to view related information in the Quote Line app. Click the Edit button to customize the fields on display. You can click and drag fields to your preferred position in the display. For example, let s click Trade Volume so that it appears as the last item in the display. Click the plus icon at the end of a row to add additional fields. Let s click the plus sign in the second row. Now select % Change. 19

The new field now appears in the layout. You can remove fields using the X buttons. For example, let s remove the Trade Volume field by clicking the X. Click OK when you have finished making your changes. To view related information for the selected instrument, open the Related menu. Then click the News icon. A pop-out window containing related news headlines appears. 20
