NETWORK TERMINATION When building a Lonworks system the network must be properly terminated by positioning the BTK-2 Lonworks terminator in the DSA master reader and the BTK- Lonworks bus return in the last DSA slave reader. The BTK- bus return provides a connector to be inserted in the Lonworks 7-pin female connector of the last slave reader in the network; while the BTK-2 Lonworks terminator provides a different connector to be inserted in the Lonworks 7-pin male connector of the master reader: DSA Master DSA Last Slave BTK-2 BTK- Network BTK-2 and BTK- Two cables are also provided as accessories to terminate and power the network: CAB-65 and CAB-35. CAB-65 is a power and Lonworks termination cable to be used for connecting the DSA master to an external power unit within the network; while CAB-35 is a power and bus return cable to be used for connecting the last DSA slave to an external power unit. OSCILLATING MIRROR MODELS Oscillating mirror models are used when coverage of a large reading area is required, mainly in picket fence applications. The oscillating mirror is placed in front of the reading aperture of the DSA scanner to deflect the laser beam. As the mirror moves, this sweeping function of the laser beam allows the coverage of a larger area to locate the barcodes. The aperture angle is symmetrical and the scan line perpendicular to the scanner is at as shown in the figure below. +25-25 By configuring the oscillating speed up to the maximum value of 9 Hz, raster emulation can be performed for reading fast moving objects. Hz Max. Aperture -5 5 6-3 -5 6-9 NOTE By limiting the raster width to the minimum necessary, the number of scans on the reading surface is increased. 3

MECHANICAL INSTALLATION DSA can be installed to operate in any position. There are 6 screw holes (M6 X ) on the sides of the scanner for mounting. The diagram below can be used for installation; refer to the Reading Diagrams for correct positioning of the scanner with respect to the reading zone and scanner orientation. 26.6 [.9] 72.5 [6.79] M6 N 6 6.7 [.] 5 27 [.5] 5 [.97] 6. This condition could occur more frequently for side mounted applications. If these precautions are not followed, it may occur that the laser of the blinded scanner starts blinking due to an internal circuit which temporarily turns the laser off when detecting a power anomaly. To resolve this problem, it is sufficient to slightly change the inclination and position of one of the two scanners involved.
