Dr y barrel hydrants series 27 Dry barrel fire hydrants are primarily designed for frost areas, where the water main is located below ground frost zone. The series 27/00 dry barrel hydrant has two drain outlets located just above the water main level. The main valve disc is designed with the purpose of flushing the drain channels for soil and other impurities during opening. These impurities could lead to damage of the main valve disc. After turning the operation key 2 to 3 times the drain will stop flushing, and the barrel will be filled with water which will flow directly into the hoses and pumper hose or whatever is connected. Furthermore, when the hydrant is closed after service, the barrel will drain the water through the drain holes in the base. Therefore, it is important to make sure that the base is surrounded by gravel allowing the hydrant to drain and flush without washing off the soil. If not, this could result in under mining of the pavement. AVK dry barrel fire hydrants meet or exceed AWWA C-502 and are all UL/ULC listed and FM approved. The fire hydrants are designed for high performance, easy repair and minimum end user costs for labor and inventory. Series 27 are available in a modern or nostalgic designs. Wet barrel hydrants series 24 Wet barrel fire hydrants are designed for non frost areas. The series 24 wet barrel hydrant is designed with the shut-off device directly at the outflow nozzle for hose or pumper connection. This means that the hydrant is constantly filled with water and thus under pressure. The hydrant is mounted directly on the water main, giving full water pressure instantaniously when needed. Only after 1/8 turns on the stem the water starts to flow, and after 12 turns the full flow capacity can be held against the fire. The hydrant is not for use where the temperature may come below 0 C, due to the risk of frost bursting. In order to service and maintain the hydrant, we recoend installing an isolating gate valve on the upstream side. AVK wet barrel fire hydrants meet or exceed AWWA C-503 and are all UL/ULC listed and FM approved. Monitor hydrants series 84/60 and series 27 The monitor hydrants are primarily developed for installation in chemical and petrochemical industrial plants as well as refineries and tank farms, airports and other plants with large quantities of inflaable liquids posing fire hazards. Both types of these hydrants are available with 2 x 21/2" hose nozzles and 1 x 4" pump nozzle. The American type, series 27, is supplied with a 6" base delivered with either a flange connection or a PE-pipe connection. The European type, series 84, is available with a 4" base with 4" flange connection. The monitor elbow in 4" is supplied with an isolating butterfly valve, a suspension arm with a 360º step-less, horizontal adjustment, and a -45º to -90º step-less, vertical adjustment. A spray nozzle is mounted on the outside to supply 2000 litres/min. Series 84 also has "easy-open" valves to ensure connection of fire hoses, even if the monitor is in use. The hydrant can be maintained without installation of an isolating shut-off valve in front of it. Post indicators, wall indicators and post indicator valves Post indicators and wall indicators are mounted end to end with the extension spindle connecting the valve. It is mounted in places where direct access is impossible. It could be gate valves mounted on a water ring main in a factory area, such as oil refineries, chemical plants or airports. The post indicator indicates if the valve is in open or closed position. According to government regulations, it must be easy for firemen to see if the valve is open or closed, even at a long distance. The post indicator signs OPEN and SHUT are mounted on the target according to clear locations and according to valve size. The post indicator valves are used for underground installation in fire protection systems. The post indicator flange is incorporated in the top gland, giving a compact design. The grooved systems end clamping systems series 0 6/37 AVK gate valves with grooved ends The series 06/37 AVK gate valve with grooved ends is the perfect valve choice in pipelines for irrigation, HVAC, and fire protection. The valves fit the quick clamp system and are machined according to AWWA C606. The grooved end on the valve is fixed to the pipe material e.g. steel or cast iron - by means of standard clamping couplings. Over the past 75 years, the grooved end clamping system has proved to be one of the fastest and most efficient ways of joining pipes due to its high degree of flexibility and rigidity, as well as a fast and easy assembly. The system is a fast and effective way to install pipe systems in buildings. The system absorbs vibrations and noise transmission through the system. It has a certain degree of angular deflection of the pipe joints and alignment in all positions 360º around the pipe axis. Therefore, the system has gained a footing in high rise buildings where vibrations and stress of pipe systems are of significant importance. The series 06/37 valve is a further development of the well-known VDS-approved gate valve series 06/35 which was originally designed for sprinkler systems. But ter fly valves series 75 and check valves series 41 and series 53 AVK butterfly valves AVK offers butterfly valves in three different variants wafer, semi lug and double flanged. All three variants have a ductile iron body, PN 16, with vulcanized rubber liner from AVK s own rubber factory. The rubber liner functions as a shut-off for the fire water and as an insertion joint against the counter flanges. This function eases the installation process significantly. The disc is made of stainless steel or alubronze in a modern and optimized design to ensure a free flow. All butterfly valves are delivered with approved gear box, hand wheel and opening indicator. AVK check valves Secondary valves in a fire sprinkler system are not necessarily gate valves. The AVK check valve is an excellent choice if you want to avoid reflux. A pump chamber for sprinkler systems often includes liquids that are not in contact with fire water and as such, they do not require the same strict approvals. Examples hereof are the supplementary water for the pumps and the replenishment of containers and reservoirs from the public water supply net. The disc is designed with a steel insert fully vulcanized with EPDM rubber. It provides a drop tight closure and due to the light weight it requires a minimum of force to open/close. H Easy maintenance and long life Disassembly of the valve can be performed without removing the valve from the pipe system by unscrewing the bonnet bolts and removing the bonnet assembly including hinge and disc.
