CONFEDERATION CENTRE CHILDREN S LIBRARY What s your favourite game? How do you stay UNbored? Register for the TD Summer Reading Club and come PLAY at the library this summer! You ll set a summer reading goal and record your progress in a notebook. (Preschoolers can have a caregiver record their reading.) You ll earn an official signature on your reading certificate, and you could win one of our great prizes. So, what are you waiting for? Come play at your library! www.tdsummerreadingclub.ca Registration Registrations for the Summer Reading Club will be accepted from June 27 until the end of July and should be completed in person so you can pick up your free summer reading kit. The Summer Reading Club is open to children of all ages, including preschoolers.

Launch Party and Carnival Saturday, June 27 at 2:00 PM Have some fun and celebrate the launch of the TD Summer Reading Club with a carnival! There will be entertainment, giveaways, and refreshments! The fun starts at the Children s Library at 2:00 PM. Our Carnival will take place on the plaza in front of the library, where we ll kick things off with a story, followed by games and activities for everyone! We ll serve cake at 3:00 PM. For all ages. Closing Celebration Thursday, August 13 from 10:30-11:30 AM Celebrate all the reading you ve done so far this summer at our closing party! We ll make a fun craft and have refreshments. Bring your reading notebook and you can have your reading certificate signed. Can t make the party? You can still get your reading certificate signed until the end of August. Activities for School-Aged Children Join us at 10:30 AM on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from June 29 to August 13 for stories, crafts, and other activities. For ages 5 to 11. Please note: Children must be accompanied by an adult and are not to be left unattended in the library. These programs are not intended for groups. Our friends from the Island Nature Trust will be visiting to tell us about play behaviour in wild animals! Annual Teddy Bears Picnic Friday, July 3 from 11:30 AM-1:00 PM. Meet in the Children s Library for a walk to a neighbourhood park. After we eat, we ll enjoy stories and games. Everyone welcome! Bears, children and adults bring their own picnic lunches. (In case of inclement weather, enjoy a Teddy Bear storytime in the library.) Adopt a Corner Thursday, July 16 at 10:30 AM Help create decorations for our garden at the corner of Queen Street and Victoria Row. This is the sixth year the Children s Library has participated in Downtown Charlottetown s Adopt A Corner project. Let s Learn How To Cork! Wednesday, July 22 at 1:00 PM-2:00 PM Learn a simple yarn craft called Corking or Spool Knitting. Once you have mastered the technique, there are any number of soft items you can make - jewelry, finger puppets, bookmarks. All supplies are provided. For ages 8-11. Legomania! Wednesday, July 29 at 1:00 PM-2:00 PM Do you love lego?! Bring your imagination and creativity to the library and test your lego skills! For ages 5-12.

Animal Toy and Treat Drive June to August Wednesday, August 5 from 11:00-11:30 AM Starting in early June, you are invited to donate an animal toy or treat for the homeless animals at the PEI Humane Society Shelter. We ll have a drop-off container for your donations, and we d love to fill it to the top! (Toys and treats only. No funds, please!) Our friends from the Humane Society will visit at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 5. Board Games Club Tuesdays at 1:30 PM from July 7 to August 11 Join us to play your favourite board games with other kids. Try chess, checkers, Apples to Apples, Scrabble and more! For ages 7 and up. PARKS CANADA VISITS: Piping Plover Program Tuesday, July 7 from 10:30 AM-11:30 AM This endangered shorebird needs your help! Learn about the fragile bird that raises its family on the beaches of PEI National Park. Presentation, games, crafts. Sand Dunes Program Friday, July 17 from 10:30 AM-11:30 AM PEI National Park protects some sensitive habitats including the dune system that is anchored by Marram grass. Learn what makes this plant special and how the dunes play an important role in the lives of plants and animals that live there and the many people who visit the beach! For ages 5-11. Island Animals Program Thursday, August 6 10:30 AM-11:30 AM Come meet some of the animals that call PEI National Park home! Presentation, displays, and craft making. For ages 5-11.
