STARTING THE COURSE: LOADING & COURSE VISIBILITY ISSUES Problem: I cannot see the entire screen, or some of the buttons, when the course loads. The opening display is oversized on my computer screen; e.g., the display runs off the screen, the forward buttons to move through the course are not visible. Also, there are no clearly marked items displayed on my screen to get out of that display. Solution: In order to see the course on the full screen, try one of these two options: OPTION 1 OPTION 2 Go to your Desktop and right click. Select Properties (left click). Select Settings (left click). Adjust the screen resolution toward less. Go to your desktop. Double click on the Resolution Change icon. The entire screen will adjust to show a smaller font, including email, etc. You will be able to see all of the buttons and full screen of the course. To get back to the normal view of emails, etc., simply double click the Resolution Change icon again and everything will return to the regular font. Problem: This didn t work OR I don t have the Resolution Change icon on my desktop. Solution: For PC users, you can change the screen s resolution by going to the Windows Start Menu, and selecting the Control Panel. Windows XP gives users the option to view the Control Panel either by Category View or Classic View. Page 2 of 5
In Classic View, the user would select Display, and then in the Settings tab change the screen resolution to at least 1024 x 768 pixels. 800 x 600 is too low of a resolution. In Category View, the user would select Appearance and Themes and then select the Change the Screen Resolution task. This opens the Setting tab and the screen resolution should be changed to at least 1024 x 768 pixels. For Mac users, open System Preferences and choose the Displays option where the screen resolution can be changes to at least 1024 x 768 pixels. Problem: The course doesn t load OR I am able to login and get to the Table of Contents with the course list, but after clicking on a course, it freezes and locks up. Solution(s): Upgrade your browser (e.g., to Internet Explorer 8.0) Many of the newer browsers provide more security which may solve this problem. For Internet Explorer: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet explorer/default.aspx Update Java settings: http://www.java.com/en/ This course depends on Adobe Flash to play its content. Adobe Flash may be blocked on your computer. If so, you may need to upgrade to the latest release of the Flash Player plug in: http://www.adobe.com/go/en_us H GET FLASH COMPLETING THE COURSE SUCCESSFULLY At the end of the every module of this course, you will complete a quiz. The quiz is not, however, on the final screen. There are still additional pages. Continue to move through the pages until you reach the one that says, Congratulations! You have successfully completed this class. This is the final screen for that section of the course. Please wait for the page to finish loading. You will know that has happened when instructions for MAC users appear on the page. It is especially important that you click through all of the pages during Module 9, and wait for the final page to finish loading before exiting out of the course. If you close out of the course early, completion of the course will not register, and you will not be able to access your Certificate of Completion. TIP: Check the right bottom corner of the screen for the number of pages you have completed, out of the total number of pages for that module of the course. For example, Module 9 has 26 pages. If the bottom corner says 23 of 26, you have not finished the course. Page 3 of 5
Problem: I successfully finished some of the course modules, but the last one I finished is not showing as completed (e.g. I just finished Module 6, but the box is not checked as completed on the Table of Contents). Solution: Email ra bastrainings@pa.gov with SPeCTRUM Training Support in the subject line. ACCESSING THE CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION TIP: Once you successfully complete all nine modules, a tab that says Certificate will appear on your main page. Simply click on this tab at any time to view or print your Certificate of Completion. To access your Certificate of Completion at any time you have two options. OPTION 1 Log into the course access link using the user name and password you originally created. On the Student Main Menu page, select Student Information. Click the Transcript tab. Click Continue. Click on the Certificate icon on the chart. OPTION 2 Log into the course access link using the user name and password you originally created. On the Student Main Menu page, scroll your mouse over the blue line that says Autism SPeCTRUM Training Classroom. When the words turn RED, click on the link. Click on the Certificate tab. NOTE: Clicking the Enter Course icon will take you back into the course, but not to your certificate. Problem: I have finished the entire course but my certificate is not showing up, or I am unable to print it.
