Family TIES of Massachusetts Let s Get Organized A workshop for parents of children with special needs Do you wish you had a way to keep track of your child s IEPs, evaluations, progress reports, doctor reports, test results, and more? We will offer effective ways for parents to organize and manage paperwork, building a customized binder for your child - plus general ideas on keeping it together and tips for developing community connections for your child. Join us for a special April School Vacation activity at The Children s Museum of Greater Fall River The FACE Center invites you to join us for a family fun event at the Children s Museum of Greater Fall River. We have scheduled a special time when we can explore and enjoy the Museum together. When: Tuesday, April 21 11AM 1PM Where: The Children s Museum of Greater Fall River 441 North Main Street Fall River, MA 02720 Pizza and refreshments will be provided. Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation Welcome spring with a Universal Access hike in the Freetown State Forest. If you would like more information about this activity please contact Marilyn Grubb at mgrubb@peopleinc-fr.org or 774-627-2439. Sensory Friendly Movie AMC Theatres (AMC) and the Autism Society have teamed up to bring families affected by autism and other disabilities a special opportunity to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and accepting environment with the "Sensory Friendly Films" program. In order to provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for this unique audience, the movie auditoriums will have their lights brought up and the sound turned down, families will be able to bring in their own gluten-free, casein-free snacks, and no previews or advertisements will be shown before the movie. The FACE Center will purchase your tickets for one of the sensory friendly movies listed below. Please call to let us know if you would like to attend. A limited number of tickets are available so call soon. Regular cost of admission: $5.50/person. Saturday, March 28 - HOME Saturday, April 18 Underdogs All showings are at 10AM at the North Dartmouth AMC theatres

Sibshops provide support to siblings of children with special medical and developmental needs. During Sibshops, siblings are encouraged to share the challenges and celebrate the joys with brothers and sisters in similar situations. Sibshops are fun and lively events that provide peer support and information for the school-age brothers and sisters of children with special health and developmental needs. For siblings 8-14 years of age. We view families as the experts concerning the needs of their family members. The Council will advise the Center on programming and services, plan and provide support for events and recreational activities, and assist with outreach to other families and the community. Council meetings will be held once a quarter. If you are interested in joining the FACE Center Family Advisory Council please contact Marilyn Grubb at 774-627-2439 or mgrubb@peopleinc-fr.org About the FACE Center The FACE Center is the Family Support Center for the Fall River Area Office of the Department of Developmental Services. The Center provides support for Greater Fall River families with a child or adult member with a developmental disability through educational opportunities, social events, parent support, information, and referrals. Families may also receive assistance with the guardianship process and support in completing the eligibility application for department services.
