About Gävle Gävle is the residencial town of the region Gävleborg Gävle has a population of about 93 500, 70 000 living in the town The entire North part of Gävle was burnt down in 1869. Out of a population of 13000, 8000 lost their homes. Three elderly women and a goat was killed The last tall ship of the Swedish commercial fleet, the brig Gerda b.1868, has been reconstructed in Gävle Gävle s archipelago consist of 446 islands and a coastal line of 280km There are more than 200kms of separated cycle path network (compare this with the 400km road network!)
