FUTURE FILTRATION SILICON CARBIDE CERAMIC MEMBRANES 1

...LiqTech provides long-life silicon carbide ceramic membranes. CLEANTECH FROM LIQTECH INTERNATIONAL Our mission In essence LiqTech was created out of the need for new technologies to meet ever increasing demands for cleaner air and cleaner water. It was born from a vision that technology companies with the right products and management could deliver sustainable profits and growth....a competitive alternative to other filtration technologies such as polymer based membranes and sand filters. CONTACT For more information about Liquid Membranes products please write to info@liqtech.com LiqTech is a Danish based technology company, who for the last 14 years has been at the leading edge in developing and marketing its own proprietary products to the environmental industry. At its core the ability to manipulate Silicon Carbide (SiC) one of the most durable of manmade materials makes it a high value, high performance product for liquid and gaseous filtration products. Core strength From its facilities in Copenhagen LiqTech develops, manufactures and supplies an expanding network of sales offices around the globe. As such it retains full control of the development, manufacturing and sales process. LiqTech offers membranes with the lowest total costs of ownership (TCO). CoMem Conduit - OD146x865mm (8,02m 2 ) Other configurations: Monotubes Flat sheet (for MBR) Discs Customized It is the understanding of the market place combined with its rapid response to the demands of the customer that has allowed LiqTech to supply an extensive range of standard and customized membrane solutions. 2 3

PRODUCT LINE LiqTech produces an extensive range of sizes and configurations of SiC membranes dependent on the operation and application. APPLICATIONS AREAS LiqTech s SiC membranes can be applied to the following: MEMBRANE PRODUCTS Tubular Membranes for cross flow and dead end filtration The CoMem elements are our cross-flow solution for filtration of liquids with a high amount of oil and suspended solids. Products include Ø25mm and hexagonale elements in market standard lengths. The CoMem Conduits are large sized elements (Ø146mm). This membrane has conduits cut into the element, which in turn gives us a higher flux. These elements are designed for removal of oil and suspended solids. The Aqua Solution elements are our dead-end membrane solution for liquids with lower amount of suspended solids. Flat Sheet Membranes FSM-series: A new line of submersible SiC flat sheet membranes, modules and racks designed for MBR/MBBR and Pre-RO applications. SUPPORTING PRODUCTS Housings: LiqTech offers stainless steel housings as well as polymer based housings for our SiC ceramic membranes. Back Pulse Hammer (BPH): LiqTech has developed a BPH system which delivers high frequency block pulses, from the permeate side, back through the membrane in order to keep the membrane clean and free of foulants. The BPH system is an excellent tool for maintaining high flux. Pilot units: As an additional service to our customers, LiqTech offers pilot units for onsite testing. We have test units available at our sales offices and distributors around the world and we can therefore service our customers fast. LiqTech s test engineers are available for startup of pilot tests as well as operational training. PERMEATE Cross-flow filtration Produced water LiqTech s SiC membranes offer consistent removal of oil and suspended solids at high flux rates regardless of the feed conditions. The membranes are ideal for treatment of produced water for discharge, re-injection, pre-ro as well as polymer flooded streams. We offer solutions both for off shore and on shore and have extensive experience with produced water streams from fracking, gas condensate and oil emulsions. LiqTech s SiC membranes are the best alternative to micro-flotation and walnut shell filters. Meeting new environment regulations has become simpler. Pre-filtration for Reverse Osmosis Superior pre-filtration of water leading to significant improvement in RO performance. Industrial waste water re-use, sea water, etc. Industrial applications Food, beverage, pharma and chemicals Scrubber water/condensate from biomass and coal fired power plants (removal of heavy metals) Coal mine & oil sands tailings ponds Oily water from metals, textile and other processing industries Slop oil, oil tank cleaning Raw sugar filtration Protein recovery and clarification Ground Water remediation/lowering Cooling water Ballast water Pool & Spa water Discs Membranes membrane SiC Discs: Dynamic rotating cross flow discs for high solid applications. Retrofitting LiqTech offers customized membrane solutions. Contact us for more information. FEED PERMEATE FEED WASTE membrane Membrane mounted in housing WASTE Waste water From primary to tertiary treatment we have a solution for each part of the waste water process. Final polish/tertiary treatment of municipal waste water Flat sheet membranes for MBR/MBBR Cow manure and pig manure Drinking water NSF 61 Certified SiC membranes for Drinking Water. We offer a wide range of membrane configurations depending on the final application. Ground water: removal of precipitated salts like iron and manganese Surface water: removal of organic suspended solids and humic acids Sea Water: pre-filtration before RO (Improve your pre-treatment for better RO performance) 4 5

FEATURES AND BENEFITS The membrane substrates as well as the selective membrane layers are made from 100% Silicon Carbide (SiC). PERFORMANCE OF LIQUID MEMBRANES FLUX RATES Nominal Pore size Typical flux at 25 C - On non-fouling water @ 1bar LIQUID MEMBRANES UNIQUE ADVANTAGES Highest flux for any membrane material Reduce your foot print and system costs (less pipes, valves, etc.). Chemically inert (ph 0-14) No limitations, fast cleaning, reduced down time during Cleaning in Place (CIP), filtration of acids and alkalis. Thermally resistant up to 800 C Steam cleaning, more efficient chemical cleaning, high temperature applications. High permeability High porosity ( 45%) High flux Hydrophilic material (water loving) Unmatched performance in oil/water separation. ISO electric point ph 2.4 - repels negatively charged components in most of ph-range Unmatched performance in oil/water separation. Reduces oil fouling, easier to clean. Extremely hard and durable material Long life time, less down time and maintenance, stable operation, cleaning with shock pulses (BPH system), not destroyed by sharp particles. Available in pore sizes: 3 / 1 / 0,1 / 0,04 micron Many application areas: Waste water, Produced Water, Industrial applications, Pre-Ro, Drinking Water and Ballast Water. 0,04 µm 0,1 µm 1 µm 3 µm (substrate only) 0,04 µm 1,0 µm Substrate 3 m 3 /(m 2 h) 4 m 3 /(m 2 h) 10 m 3 /(m 2 h) >12 m 3 /(m 2 h) SEM picture of 2 layer membrane Each layer has different SiC grain sizes.
