Arrival Call Esbjerg Port Control 2 hours before passing Graadyb Fairway buoy on VHF channel 12. Report when passing buoys 1-2 and again when passing buoys 13-14 and when moored. Ballast No previous information Cargo Handling Facility In the Fishing Harbour there are pipelines for loading fish oil in bulk. The Commercial Harbour has large open marshalling and storage areas, numerous warehouses of about 325700 m3, cold storage of about 138500 m3, and storage tanks for oil and LPG. Present Equipment: Several mobile cranes up to 150 tons capacity, of this three (3) can be fitted with grab and three (3) with container spreader. One (1) conveyors/gravel sorting plant Several forklift trucks, tugmasters and bobcats. Please see: http://www.consilium.europa.eu/showpage.aspx?id=1157&lang=en The port has no specific immigration/visa requirements to the crew onboard vessels calling at the port. Crew change is possible in the port/terminal/anchorage. No restrictions on crew shore leave. Dutch, French, Norwegian, Finnish and Swedish embassies/consulates are available in the port/city. Dangerous Cargo Regulations Vessels carrying dangerous cargo shall report this to SOK SafeSeaNet Information Portal according to the guidelines described in the resolution of the MSC ( Recommendation on the Safe Transport, Handling and Storage, of Dangerous Substances in Port Areas, passed in 1980 and amended in 1983) Such cargo shall be reported at least 12 hours prior to arrival. The entrance is well marked by lights and buoys. Regulations for narrow channels in Danish waters are enforced and mean that inward bound ships off Graadyb bar should give way for those outward bound. In port: If two vessels cannot pass each other without danger, the vessel that will depart from pier shall wait with departure, until a ship sailing in the channel has passed, regardless of it is inbound or outbound. Before arrival it is compulsory to forward the Registration form for Delivery of Waste to the Port of Esbjerg. The form is available at http://www.portesbjerg.dk forwarding either by e-mail or fax. Harbour The Port of Esbjerg consists of a Fishing Harbour and a Commercial Harbour. The Fishing Harbour comprises four basins with 5000 m of berthage and depths of up to 7,5 m serving the fishing fleet, the associated service facilities, fish processing plants etc. In basin no. 6 is situated a floating dock, with the capacity to take ships up to 120 m overall and a displacement up to 4500 tons. The Commercial Harbour includes two berths for oil and gas tankers, multipurpose wharves, berths for offshore activities and for the Northsea Ferry Services. Traffic Harbour (Trafikhavn) provides some 2,000 m of berthage with depths alongside ranging from 7,5 m to 11,5 m (24-38 ).1 fixed ramp and Lo/Lo Berth with fixed ramp. Facilities for reefer goods. 2 berths for oil, LPG and molasses with depths from 7,5 m to 10,5 m ( 24-34 ). Ferry Harbour (Faergehavn) has 2 ro/ro berths. Dock Harbour (Dokhavn) has 1,025 m of quayage and a general depth of 9,3 m. PAGE 8
East Harbour (Oesterhavn) and South Harbour (Soenderhavn) totalling 1,550 m of berthage with depths of 9,3 m - 10,5 m are equipped with facilities for ferry and container traffic, off shore activities, general cargo, reefer goods and the receipt of fuel oil for the power station etc. One fixed double ramp. Atlant Wharf (Atlantkaj)250 m of berthage with depths of 10,5 m, equipped with one (1) fixed ramp. Australia Wharf (Australienkaj) 290 m of berthage with depths of 10,5m; equipped for the reception of coal for the power station. Aries Wharf (Arieskaj) 400 m of berthage with depths of 10,5 m. Taurus Wharf (Tauruskaj) in continuation of Australia Wharf is 380 m long with depths of 10,5 m. Gemini Wharf (Geminikaj) in continuation of Taurus Wharf is 330 m long with depths of 10,5 m. Denmark - Esbjerg - Infrastructure Esbjerg is linked to all parts of the country, Northern Germay and Scandinavia by motorway and railway. A great number of shipping lines have regular sailings to ports all over the world. Esbjerg Airport has daily flights to Stavanger, London and Aberdeen and air taxi services are available. The modern heliport mainly serves the offshore installations in the Northsea. Billund Airport which is located about one hour s drive from Esbjerg has several international flights on a daily basis. To Australienkaj Arieskaj and Tauruskaj (berths 710 through 718) a vessel of up to 250 m (820 ) in length are accepted. Max beam: The entrance channel is minimum 200 m wide. No fixed max beam restriction. To be individually assessed by the pilots and harbor master. NAABSA Ships will normally stay afloat, however ships with maximum draft may touch the bottom (sand or mud) when strong winds from easterly directions prevail. Obstructions Ships with a draft of 9,0 m (29,5 feet) must enter harbour at high water. PAGE 10
Pilotage Compulsory pilotage The Danish Pilotage ACT no. 567 of 09/06/2006 Section 4. In internal and external territorial waters there is an obligation for ships to use a pilot if they: 1) Are carrying oil or have uncleaned cargo tanks that have not been rendered safe with inert air, 2) Are carrying chemicals, 3) Are carrying gases, 4) Have more than 5,000 t bunker oil onboard or 5) Are carrying highly radioactive material. Subsection 2. The Danish Pilotage Authority specifies, in accordance with international definitions, what is understood by the cargos mentioned in subsection 1. Present Notification no. 472 of 25/05/2007: 1 Pilotage is compulsory for certain towing and towed vessels navigating in dredged channels (Entrance to Esbjerg) or marked navigation channels, into or when passing harbours or pilot stations. Subsection 2. If the towed vessel is unmanned, or if the vessel is not under its own power, the towing vessel must take on a pilot. Subsection 3. A vessel which pursuant to Subsections 1 and 2 must take a pilot can be exempt herefrom if: 1) The gross tonnage of the towed vessel is less than 150, 2) The length (l.o.a.) of the towed vessel is less than 28 m, or 3) The vessel is being towed or is towing within the area of the same harbour. Pilot usually boards half a mile seaward of the Graadyb Fairway Buoy(racon). In bad weather the pilot will board inside Buoy No. 7. The distance from pilot boarding place to the port is abt. 8 nm. Situation (55 deg. 28 N - 8 deg. 26 E) On the W coast of Jutland, 15 miles ESE of Blaavands Huk point. A commercial port with facilities for handling ro-ro and lo-lo traffic. There are broad quayside areas ideal for handling general cargo and solid bulk cargo. Tides and Currents The tidal range is under normal conditions of about 1.3 m (4 ), but gales from W can raise the water level by up to 4 m and those from E may lower it by about 1 m. The tidal streams, which are strongest at half tide set across the harbour entrances at rates of up to 3 knots at spring tides. PAGE 14

Trade and Shipping The total turnover amounts to about 4 million t, 1/3 of the turnover relates im- and exports of ro-ro and lo-lo cargo and general cargo. Imports include cars, coal, general cargo, LPG and oil.
