How Do I Capture Leads? Introduction You ve got your website ready to go, and your content is waiting to be shared with new leads. Now you need to get those leads opted into your database so you can automatically follow up and nurture them! STEP 1 Create your follow up Sequence ONTRAPORT gives you complete control of your Smart Forms. You can drill down to specific design aspects of the Form and determine everything that happens in the backend once the Form is filled out. Got it? Jump to Step Two
1. Click Email next to Add A Step. 2. Under Settings click the Select Email dropdown next to Message and choose your Thank You email. If you need to create one, see how here. Choose your Send From name and Email from address. 3. Under Schedule Step, keep the default 0 days and immediate, as we want the email to go out right after they fill out the Form. 4. Click Save towards the top right. Next
STEP 2 Create your Smart Form ONTRAPORT gives you complete control of your Smart Forms. You can drill down to specific design aspects of the Form and determine everything that happens in the backend once the Form is filled out. Got it? Jump to Step Three
Create your Smart Form 1. Go to Contacts > Smart Forms. 2. Click the New Smart Form button. 3. Name your Smart Form. The Smart Form name appears only in your ONTRAPORT account, and won t be seen by your customer. You d want to give it a name that is specific to the opt-in offer or campaign. Next steps
4. Now you can design your Smart Form. To re-arrange the order of fields, simply click and drag them. 5. Click Field Settings, Form Style and Background to edit the look and feel of the fields and Form. 6. Click Add Field to add additional fields to your Form. Select Add Content to add text, images or links. Break up your fields or sections by clicking Add Separator. Next
7. Now, in the Settings section of your Form, you will determine what happens when your Form is filled out. Choose your Opt-In Settings. For this example, we ll go with Single. Select your Thank You page. 8. Under Manage Form Fills, select Add New next to Tags. 9. Select Create New Tag, and give it a name that is specific to your Form so you re able to easily see who opted in. Click Save. Next
10. Click Publish Form towards the top right. 12. Decide which code you ll be placing on your website. For this example, we ll choose the simplest, Javascript, to copy into a WordPress sidebar widget. Copy the code to your clipboard. 11. The code you choose can be used on nearly any website (check with your web developer for how to insert the code). If you have an integrated WordPress website, you do not need to copy the code for Posts or Pages. You can select the Smart Form from the drop down selection box as shown in the next steps. Next
STEP 3 Publish your Form on your Website You ve created your Smart Form which adds Contacts to a follow up Sequence to receive your newsletter. Now it s time to put that Form on your website and go live! Next
1. Log in to your WordPress site as admin. 3. Click the Add ONTRAPORT Media button and select the Smart Form to insert onto the page. 2. Navigate to the page where your Form will live, or add a new page.
4. To add a Smart Form to a sidebar widget, go to Appearance > Widgets and add a Text widget. 5. Paste the Javascript code into the Text widget and click Save.
6. ONTRAPORT Smart Form code can be used on many other website platforms. Check with your hosting provider for instructions. Some platforms will prefer you use the HTML Version of the code. 7. For example, for Squarespace copy the HTML version of the form code, navigate to the page for the opt in form, click on the black editing icon for the section you want the form to appear in, and select the Code element. Paste the HTML Version of the code into the pop up box, make sure the Display Source box is unchecked, and click Save.
