WebEx Converting.ARF to.wmv ots publication: WX35 revised 4-19-2016 training@towson.edu office of technology services =Shortcut =Advice =Caution Introduction Before you can convert an.arf file to a.wmv file format, you must have the WebEx ARF Player installed on your machine. This self-help document will step you through how to install the Player, download a recording and convert the file. Installing the WebEx ARF Player Please note that administrator privileges may be required to install the ARF Player (Network Recording Player) on a Towson University computer. Please contact the Towson University Help Desk at 410-704-5151 for administrator privileges or use the new Temporary Computer Administrator Rights tool at towson.edu/tcar. Visit towson.webex.com from your favorite browser and click the Login button Figure 1 2. Enter your NetID and Password and click the Log In button. 3. Select Downloads from the Support section of any tab (Training Center, Meeting Center, Support Center) Figure 2 4. 5. Once there, select the appropriate download link for your operating system. WebEx: Converting.ARF to.wmv 1 Figure 2 6. Follow the steps to install the package on your operating system. Figure 4 Download a Recording As soon as you complete your recording, the file will be stored on the WebEx server. Follow these steps to download a recording. 1. In your web browser, go to towson.webex.com and log in as you would normally. 2. Click on the My WebEx link at the top of the window and select My Files from the left panel Figure 5 3. Click on the My Recordings tab. Figure 6 2
4. Locate the recording you wish to download and select the More icon then choose Download. Figure 7 5. Your file will download to the Downloads folder. Converting an ARF File to WMV To convert your WebEx recording from an.arf file format to a.wmv file format, follow these steps. 1. If the ARF Player is not already open, open it by going to Start > All Programs > WebEx > Network Recording Player. Figure 8 2. Go to File > Open and locate the file you would like to convert. 3. Once opened, the file will play. Pause it by clicking the pause button located at the bottom of the window. Figure 9 3
4. To begin the process of conversion, go to File > Convert Format > WMV (Windows Media) This will bring up the Convert Format to WMV (Windows Media) dialog box. 5. To choose where the file will save to, click the Browse button. 6. Under Content options, choose the panels you would like to include in the conversion Note: Only panels you used in the initial recording w ill be selectable. All others w ill be grayed out. 4
7. Under Video Codec, choose the video quality you would like to convert the file with depending on who will need to access the file. Descriptions of the two choices are as follows: Windows Media Video 9: this codec creates output that is compatible with mobile devices. Windows Media Video 9 screen: This codec creates files that can be played with Windows Media Player 7 or later. 8. In the Audio Codec section, specify the audio codec you would like to use. Windows Media Audio 9.2: This codec w ill result in a smaller file size for the exported recording. Windows Media Audio 10 Professional: Offers better quality than the above, how ever, it will result in a larger file size. Windows Media Audio 9.2 Lossless: This codec offers the best audio quality, how ever, it will result in a larger file size. 9. In the Conversion Start Time section, you can indicate whether you want the file to be converted immediately, or at a later date and time that you select. 10. To initiate the conversion, click OK. 11. You can monitor the process of the conversion by hovering your mouse over the icon that appears on your taskbar. Figure 11 12. Once the conversion is complete, you can choose to Open the file., Open the Folder that the file was saved to, or simply Close the box and open the file at a later time.. Figure 12 5
