SyAM Server Setup: Installing IIS 8 and SQL Server 2012 Express on Windows Server 2012 R2 Before installing the SyAM Solution (System Area Manager, Management Utilities, Site Manager) on your server, you will need to install and configure IIS and SQL / SQL Express. This document shows how to install IIS 8 and SQL Server 2012 Express on a server with Windows Server 2012 R2 installed. Install IIS 8 IIS 8 should be installed first. Start Server Manager. Click Add roles and features in Dashboard to start the Add Roles and Features Wizard. If the Before you begin screen is displayed, click Next.
Select installation type: Role-based or feature-based installation. Click Next.
Select destination server: Select a server from the server pool. Make sure the correct server is highlighted in Server Pool. Click Next.
Select server roles: Check Application Server. Click Next.
Select features: Expand.NET Framework 3.5 Features. Check.NET Framework 3.5 (includes.net 2.0 and 3.0) and HTTP Activation. When prompted to add features that are required for HTTP Activation, click Add Features. Click Next. Check Non-HTTP Activation. Click Next.
Application Server: Informational message displayed. Click Next. Select role services: Check Web Server (IIS) Support. When prompted to add features that are required for Web Server (IIS) Support, click Add Features. Click Next.
Web Server Role (IIS): Informational message displayed. Click Next. Select role services: Web Server Common HTTP Features o Default Document o Directory Browsing o HTTP Errors o Static Content o HTTP Redirection Health and Diagnostics o HTTP Logging o Logging Tools o Request Monitor Performance o (all options checked) Security o Request Filtering o Basic Authentication o Client Certificate Mapping Authentication o Digest Authentication o IIS Client Certificate Mapping Authentication o IP and Domain Restriction o URL Authorization o Windows Authentication
Application Development o (all options checked) Management Tools o (all options and sub-options checked) Click Next when finished.
If you see the warning message Do you need to specify an alternate source path? click Specify an alternate source path and enter the path to the directory on the OS installation drive. Click OK.
Confirm installation selections: click Install.
When the Installation succeeded message is displayed, click Close. In Server Manager, navigate to Tools Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
Under Connections, expand the server name. Under the server name, expand Sites. Right-click Default Web Site and choose Remove. When prompted to confirm, click Yes. Additional configuration for Site Manager If you are not installing SyAM Site Manager on the server, close Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager and proceed to the next section on SQL Server installation. If you will be installing Site Manager, do this step first. In IIS Manager, under the server name, click Application Pools. Right-click Classic.NET AppPool and choose Advanced Settings.
In Advanced Settings, find Identity. Click the icon at right. In the Application Pool Identity pop-up, choose LocalSystem as the built-in account. Click OK. Back in the Advanced Settings dialog, click OK. Close IIS Manager.
Install SQL Server 2012 Express Download and run the SQL Server 2012 installation executable. When the SQL Server Installation Center screen is displayed, choose New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation. Check the box to accept the license terms. Click Next.
Product Updates: click Next.
Feature Selection: under Instance Features, check Database Engine Services. Uncheck any other feature options. Click Next.
Instance Configuration: click Next.
Server Configuration: click Next.
Database Engine Configuration: select Mixed Mode. Enter and confirm a password for SQL Server system administrator (sa) account. Under Specify SQL Server administrators click the Add button. In the Enter the object names to select box, type system, click Check Names, then click OK. The user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM (SYSTEM) is now added to the list of administrators. If the currently logged-in user is not on the list, click the Add Current User button. When finished, click Next.
Error Reporting: click Next.
Complete: verify that all features were successfully installed. Click Next. Close SQL Server Installation Center.
