Real Estate Management APRIL 2010 Letter from President & CEO Lynda Childress Life is a gift. Are you going to unwrap it or leave it in the box? I love that quote. Sometimes life throws you a curve ball and you have to choose your attitude through it. I had a meeting with one of our tenants recently and she told me of a seminar that she had attended recently about things that happen, things that we do not choose and have no control over. The only choice and control that we have is the heart (attitude) that we choose to have during the process. Wow, this made me really sit back and think. Sometimes life is hard, sometimes it is sweet and sometimes we just rock on doing the everyday normal things of life. We have an employee that has been with the company for 28 years and is battling cancer. He has good days, he has bad days, and sometimes he just does what he has to. All of us at Luken Holdings have him in our thoughts and prayers. We send him cards and call and check up on him. You see, no matter what curve ball you may receive, it helps if someone is standing there with a big glove to help catch the ball. I truly feel that Life is a gift that we were all given and we have a choice in how we use the gift. That is what this Easter time means to me. I personally celebrate Resurrection and Life and the Hope that comes for me, because of an empty tomb. We never have to handle the curve ball alone. Life is a gift, unwrap the package and enjoy it, for time sure does fly by. LUKEN HOLDINGS, INC. INTRODUCING A LUKEN EMPLOYEE I began my real estate career at Osborne Building Corporation in the late eighties as an assistant to the Director of Leasing. In 1990 I was promoted to the Leasing Administrator for Osborne Bldg Corp and then I went on to become a Leasing Broker. I left the Osborne Bldg Corp, which had been purchased by Bob Corker and was now the Corker Group, in 2000 and worked in tenant representation, healthcare real estate, property management and accounting for a local hospital. Lynda Childress, the current President/CEO, contacted me in June 2009 and offered me a job at Luken Holdings as the Controller. I was excited to return to commercial real estate working with this great group of people. I enjoy accounting tremendously, but I miss the tenant interaction. BETH ROBERTSON CONTROLLER Ms. Childress states that Beth Robertson and I had worked together at Osborne Building Corporation back in 1990 and knew that she was a person of honesty and integrity. We needed someone that knew the properties, was very detail oriented and that could be trusted. I have found this to be true with Beth. She is very dedicated, staying late most every night, and working diligently to learn and grow at Luken Holdings. She is a great asset to our staff.
