REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Coal bearing states like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Telangana to get potential revenue (including auction proceeds and royalties) of ` 3.35 lakh Cr. From auction of 29 Coal blocks & allotments of 38 coal blocks to states/psus over the lifetime of the mines REJUVENATED ECONOMY Prevented NPAs, reduced import bill, generated momentum for Make in India and raised resources for renewables & Ganga cleaning through coal cess. SABKA SAATH, SABKA VIKAS CO-OPERATIVE FEDERALISM Entire Coal auction revenue will go to coal bearing states especially under developed states of Eastern India like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal etc. Massive thrust to expedite projects in North East to overcome power shortages and increase prosperity. Investment of ` 9,865 Cr. for upgrading power systems in 8 North Eastern States (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura) For the first time, National State Power Ministers conference was held in Guwahati where Ministers & Officials from all over India converged in North East 24X7 power plans made for Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan. Action plans for other states at advanced stage of finalization 32
ZERO EFFECT ON ENVIRONMENT Massive thrust on renewables to increase share of clean energy More than 1 lakh solar pumps sanctioned in the past year Solar pumps helped lakhs of farmers increase output, income and also provide drinking water. Drinking water problem will be solved for more than 7.6 lakh families through solar pumps for drinking water UNNAT CHULHA ABHIYAN provides improved cook stoves for clean cooking, thus saving the lives of our mothers and sisters. 3.5 lakh cook stoves were sanctioned last year. o o Massive thrust for MAKE IN INDIA program: Orders of more than ` 100,000 crores being placed from NTPC, Coal India, Energy Efficiency Services Ltd., Powergrid Corporation etc. to kickstart the economy Domestic industry being encouraged to scale up and become more cost effective o 1000 MW of solar capacity to be setup by PSUs with solar cells made in India o Defence establishments will buy 300 MW solar plants o Similar initiatives across sectors 34
Swachh Bharat The PSUs under the three Ministries are committed to active involvement in this effort. As a first step, they are investing over ` 2,250 Cr. for over 1,25,000 toilets separately for boys and girls by 15 th August, 2015 particularly in the needy states such as Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan. After construction, the PSUs will also maintain these toilets for a period of five years thus ensuring a complete sanitation programme. Rapid Emergency Response Delhi: After transmission tower collapse in May 2014, central government worked day and night to restore power in 15 days which would have otherwise taken more than six months Cyclone Hudhud: Central teams assigned to restore power in cyclone hit areas.
