The Wickcraft Company Elevated Boardwalks and Walkways
Wickcraft History Established in 1954 by Dick Wickman Family owned and operated Custom Fabrication with noteable Craftsmanship Started as Dock and Pier Fabrication In 2006, answering the need for new standards in pedestrian walkways, Wickcraft designed the tubular steel frame construction Today Wickcraft offers a wide range of designs and options to address your project requirements
Most common applications Wetlands often the most environmentally sensitive areas for both install and sustainability Impassable areas often the most beautiful applications and therefore the most used
What We Want You to Remember Boardwalks are NOT just for wetlands Boardwalk provide an environmentally sensitive and sustainable alternative to grade level paths A modular, pre-fabricated, galvanized steel design, reduces environmental stress and extends useful life
No Longer Just Wetlands Fastest growing applications for boardwalks. Sensitive areas Trails Sidewalks Rooftops Temporary access
A New Path Alternative Elevated trails should replace grade paths because: Low environmental stress of install Eliminates ground erosion Prevents soil compaction Promotes natural rain water run-off Accommodates native plant growth Encourages small animal movement Just to name a few
When to use Pre-fabricated Steel Environmentally sensitive areas Desire rapid install Require minimal site disruption Right-away access is needed removable Extensions or additions may be added
Pre-Fabricated Frames Custom welded steel frames are galvanized Standard sections are 6 feet long by varying widths: 4, 6, 8, 10 feet wide Each section is connected with a patented Posi-Lock hinge system Each section rests on 4 non-penetrating, adjustable pan-foot legs on shared bearing pads Post-Pile sections are 12 feet long and are designed to rest on posts or Helical Piles using a saddle-cap
Pre-fabricated Decking Standard decks are pre-fabricated to fit frames to ensure a perfect match Common deck material is HDPE (recycle plastic) or Treaded Yellow Southern Pine Custom deck material can be substituted based on design such as, Ipe, Locus Wood, steel grating Pre-fabricated decks are assembled on jigs to ensure uniformity and consistency Deck sections are numbered to match frames
Plan, Design, Build Bringing it to life
Design and Installation Wickcraft can work with full CAD drawings of the site and proposed plan, or from a sketch and measurements of the site. Project owners can engage a contractor of their choice to install the boardwalk. Wickcraft can provide an install manager to ensure a successful installation. Wickcraft can provide install resources with mobilization and travel expenses.
Design Details Project specific, detailed layout drawing is done for each project and serves as an install guide. All options and custom elements are included in drawings such as transitions, railing, curbs, platforms and stairs. Each boardwalk is fabricated per specific design requirements of the project. Engineered stamped drawing can be provided if necessary.
Guarantee Life time guarantee on workmanship 100/50 year guarantee on all galvanized steel for above water and submerged 50 year guarantee on all HDPE (recycled plastic) decking materials 15 year guarantee on all Treated Southern Yellow Pine decking materials

Design Options The standard boardwalk is design to exceed the bike/pedestrian specifications of 85 LBS/Sqft: Wickcraft is 100 LBS/Sqft The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) H5 boardwalks can be designed to support 10,000 lb trucks and emergency vehicles A pedestrian only (light weight) option is also available for roof-tops and other applications
Frame Design Pre-fabricated designed and fabricated in Madison, WI and shipped to any point in North America. Current installs in 44 states. Modular for the greatest in flexibility and speed of install, reducing the stress on environment Galvanized, tubular structural steel for strong durable design that lasts a lifetime Posi-Loc hinge patented interlocking connector system evens and distributes loads among frames
What is the Purpose Bringing communities together easy tail access and centrally located, destination based systems Providing recreation for visitors trail based activities such as geo-caches and other activities Create educational opportunities with habitat access and signage Providing access for utility vehicle transportation
