Programming Instructions for the Hand-Held Programmer Revision Three - 2006 XX Environmental Enhancement & Technologies USA, Inc. dba Hydro-Guard 2006 (877) 864-8500 www.hydro-guard.com

Programming Your Hydro-Guard Unit for Operation Step 1: Set-Up Prior to connecting the hand-held programmer s modular plug to the programming pod or remote jack, it is necessary to establish the current, correct time and day of week within the programmer s memory. To do this, follow these instructions: Install the 9-volt alkaline battery in the hand-held programmer. Depress the right arrow key and the program defaults to 1: Set Up Menu. Advance the program with the right arrow key, select 1: Time. Select your choice of modes, either 12-hour clock or military time. Advance the program using the right arrow key to set the time using the plus + and minus, right and left arrow keys. Make sure to program the AM or PM correctly if you are using the 12-hour clock option. Once the time is set, select the correct day of the week. Once the correct day of the week is set, advance the program by depressing the right arrow key. Select Week 1 by advancing the program with the right arrow key. The programmer should now display the correct day of the week and time. You are now ready to program your Hydro-Guard Unit. Depress the left arrow key to return to the Set Up field in order select your choice of available languages.

Programming Your Hydro-Guard Unit for Operation (continued) Step 2: Program the Hydro-Guard Unit Connect the hand-held programmer s modular plug to the programming pod. The programmer should display the correct time and program week (1 or 2), and indicate that it is connected, and that the Unit is in the Sunny mode (for more on modes and features please review the Advanced Operations segment of this guide). You are now ready to set the start and duration of flush. Depress the right arrow, select 1: Program Actuator. The Unit will quickly advance through all 16 programs before returning to the default, #1. Depress the right arrow key and the cursor will advance to the S-startfield. Use the left and right arrows and plus and minus keys to set the correct start time. Using the right arrow key, advance the cursor to the F-finish-field. Set the correct finish time.

Programming (continued) The Programmer is now ready to set the flushing schedule for the days of the week you have chosen to flush during week one of the two-week program. Using the right arrow key, advance through the selected days. If you are not flushing each day, use the minus key to delete that day from the flushing cycle. A dash will appear in the field representing the day that has been eliminated from that week s cycle. Now program week two. Select additional programs to allow for different start and finish times for different days of the week. Once you have completed programming the desired schedules, with the cursor in the Program No field, depress the left arrow key to exit the current programming mode. Environmental Enhancement & Technologies USA, Inc. dba Hydro-Guard 2006 (877) 864-8500 www.hydro-guard.com

Programming (continued) To clear a flushing schedule from the program actuator, with the cord connected to the pod simultaneously depress the handheld programmer s plus + and minus keys while the cursor is blinking in the Program No. ## position. This allows you to clear any of the 16 flushing schedules. Additional Programming Functions To access the hand-held programmer s additional programming functions, depress the right arrow key. The display should now indicate a number of programming options. Use the plus + key to select the desired program options number: 2 through 5, and the right arrow key to enter the selected program. Manual Mode: Option number 2. You may run timed manual operation at any time by selecting START. Before executing the timed manual operation, the programming pod will delay 30 seconds after the hand-held programmer is disconnected prior to activating the Hydro-Guard Unit. If you leave zero minutes for RUN TIME, the Hydro-Guard Unit s solenoid will activate immediately, then close when disconnected. Choosing STOP will suspend Hydro-Guard operations. If the Hydro-Guard was running on a normal flushing schedule, the Hydro-Guard Unit will complete its schedule when the hand-held programmer is disconnected.

Programming (continued) Advanced Mode: Option number 3. The following advanced features are available under the ADVANCED menus. To program memory schedules, advance the cursor to the PROGRAM MEMORY field while the hand-held programmer is disconnected from the programming pod. These flushing schedules are programmed directly into the programmer and downloaded to any Hydro-Guard Unit s programming pod later. Up to 36 flushing schedules can be programmed into each programmer. These flushing schedules are programmed in the same manner as the programming pod itself. In order to copy flushing schedules from the hand-held programmer s memory to the programming pod utilize the COPY FROM MEMORY function. With the hand-held programmer connected to the Unit s programming pod, select the COPY FROM MEMORY function. The handheld programmer will ask which memory location (1-36) you would like to copy. Then it will ask which flushing schedule number (1-16) into which the information should be copied. After selecting the COPY FROM MEMORY function, the programmer will ask which memory location (1-36) to copy. Select 00, and then depress the right arrow key. The programmer will ask for the first and last memory flushing schedules in sequence allowing these to be copied as a group. This sequence will be downloaded into the Hydro-Guard Unit s programming pod beginning with flushing schedule number 1. Clear all flushing schedules from the actuator by selecting the CLEAR ACTUATOR command. Rain Mode: Option number 4. The rain mode prevents the actuator from flushing. The flushing schedule will be retained, but no flushing will occur until the mode is returned to Sunny. The hand-held programmer s initial display will indicate whether the actuator is in the Rain or Sunny mode. Actuator ID: Option number 5. Select a three-digit code to electronically identify the actuator. The code number of the hand-held programmer used to establish the actuator ID is the only programmer that can communicate via radio frequency with that actuator. Environmental Enhancement & Technologies USA, Inc. dba Hydro-Guard 2006 (877) 864-8500 www.hydro-guard.com

The Problem: Failure to communicate. The Likely Solutions: 1) The actuator s battery is low or out of power or the Hand Held Programmer is low or out of power; replace battery. 2) You may have an incorrect actuator and/or program code. Connect the hand-held programmer via the cord, and set a new actuator code. 3) You may be out of range, or out of line of sight; move to within the recommended distance and ensure there are no obstructions between yourself and the actuator.
