CERTIFICATE IN BODY THERAPY TREATMENTS The aim of the Certificate in Body Therapy Treatments is to enable Candidates to gain the necessary practical and theoretical skills in order to provide body therapy electrical and massage treatments. The qualification offers an ideal opportunity for anyone wanting to provide massage and beauty therapy body treatments. It also provides the opportunity for Candidates to develop a range of skills, techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in employment as a massage and electrical Therapist. The basis of all good body treatment routines lies in a complete knowledge by the Therapist of the anatomical structures and systems in the area to be treated, coupled with a thorough understanding of the abilities and functions of massage mediums. This unit will enable the Candidate to prepare for and provide body massage designed to meet the needs of the Client, whilst working in a safe and secure manner. This qualification will assist in providing understanding of the organisational skills required, and technical processes and procedures involved in providing body massage. It will provide the foundation knowledge required to enable the Candidate to identify possible contra-indications to treatment, as well as indications for, and benefits and effects of, professional Salon body massage treatments. In order for the body electrotherapy Therapist to take their knowledge of body care treatments to the next level, a greater more in-depth knowledge of the anatomical structures and systems in the area to be treated, coupled with a thorough understanding of the abilities and functions of electricity and electrotherapy machinery, is essential. This qualification will further enable the Candidate to prepare for and provide body electrotherapy treatments designed to meet the needs of the Client, whilst working in a safe and secure manner providing bespoke skin care services for the Client. This unit will assist in providing understanding of the organisational skills required, and technical processes and procedures involved in providing body electrotherapy treatments. It will provide the foundation knowledge required to enable the Candidate to define the uses of various machines, identify possible contra-indications to treatment, as well as indications for, and benefits and effects of, professional Salon body electrotherapy treatments. Upon completion of this qualification, the candidate will be able to work as a massage therapist and be able to work as a therapist providing electrical body treatments. The folder should be large enough to hold all of this evidence generated, a lever arch folder is usually sufficient. If more than one qualification is being studied for, it is often possible to put all of the evidence in one folder keeping it organised and clearly identified, with the use of dividers. To remove the need to duplicated evidence it is important to be aware that if any units of study are replicated between qualifications being studied it is highly recommended that the evidence is only produced once but clearly signposted for an examiner to find. Additional portfolio evidence (must be completed and marked prior to the examination schedule by the tutor) Certificate in Body Therapy Treatments range sheet Follow Health and Safety practice in the Salon log sheet Promote and Sell Products and Services log sheet CIBTAC V. 0/05/03
