Asian Development Bank (PMO) Project Brief Report: Asian Development Bank (ADB) is financing and implementing a number of projects related to road sector through their Program Management Office (PMO). The Program Management Office (PMO) which previously functioned as Project Management Unit (PMU) is an ADB-funded office commenced its operations in 2004 under the framework of Ministry of Public Works and direct supervision of Asian Development Bank (ADB). After the expansion of Project Management Unit (PMU) to Program Management Office (PMO), the office has been witnessing changes in the number of its staff and projects. Program Management Office has various departments, including Technical or Engineering Department, Financial and Administrative Department, IT Department and International Consultants Department. Program Management Office performs and implements most of the projects and programs of Ministry of Public Works (MPW). Program Management Office has a number of completed, under construction and under procurement projects. The following is brief information concerning the completed, under construction and under procurement projects: Completed Projects: 1. Pul-i-Khumri Balkh and Naiababad Hairatan (265 km): This project started in May 2004 and was completed in 16 Dec, 2008. The length of the road in this project was 265 km. 2. Balkh Andkhoy (182 km): The work of this project started in April 2004 and was completed in October 2006. The length of the road in this project was 182 km. 3. Andkhoy Qaisar (210 km): The work of this project started in April 2006 and was completed in June 2010. The length of the road in this project was 210 km. 4. Qaisar BalaMurghab (90 km): The work of this project started in December 2006 and in December 2008, only 20 km of the total 90 km length of the road was paved. The work of this project has been cancelled due to security threats,but now this project joined with Balalaman road project which is under construction. 5. Kandahar Spin Boldak (42 km): The work of this project started in May 2007 and was completed in December 2008. The length of the road in this project was 42 km. 6.Mazari Sharif Pule Baraq is the first package within this project. The length of the road for this package is 75km. This contract was awarded on 1/11/2007 to SAMWHAN Corporation in was completed in 4/Aug/2011. 7. Pule Baraq Dari Suf is the second package within this project. The length of the road for this package is 64.5km. 8.Bamyan Yakawlang is the third package within this project. The length of the road for this package is 98.9km. 9.Hairatan &Mazar-e-Sharif Railway: The Technical and Economic feasibility studies of Hairatan&Mazar-e- Sharif Railway project is completed in Sep 2009 with financial aid of ADB and Railway direction is also consolidated from Pul-e-Dosti of Hairatan Port between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan Border to Naibabad and Mazar-e-Sharif airport in length of 75km.

Under Procurement Projects of PMO: 1. ChahiAngir Grishk road Project: (31,6km) The project technical evaluation is completed MPW got no objection technical evaluation report from ADB and now the project is under financial evaluation report with MPW assigned committee 2. Yakawlang Darasoof road Project: (178 km) The project technical and economic studies are already completed, but the project construction is under the bidding process, and 11 November 2014 was determined as the last date for receiving of the offers. The technical bid opening process of the project is already preformed in ARDS,and now the project is under technical evaluation by assigned committee 3. Yakawlang Kandahar Road Project: (550 km) The Project Contract has endorsed with the winner company (Dong Shin), and MPW sent NTP to the consultant to start the work immediately 4. Kabul Ring Road Project: (95 km) The Request for expression of interest (REOI) is announced in CMS adb website the closing date for receiving expression of interest is 21 February 2015 5. Baharak Eshkashim Road Project: (108km) The project primary survey is performed by Dong Shing Company.The project construction work in this year will be under the bidding.
