They wi put a note through your door expaining how you have contaminated the recycing. They wi then inform a separate crew who wi coect the contaminated recycing and where possibe, recyce it. What happens to my recycing? The recycing coection in the orange bags is sent to a Materias Recovery Faciity (MRF). At the MRF, the recycing goes through a number of processes to separate out the different types of materias, incuding: Bag spitter - opens any bags and breaks up the recycing for sorting. Optica sorters and air jets - these identify and separate the different types of pastic. Fiters separate cardboard and gass. Magnets and eddy currents separate ferrous and non-ferrous metas. Picking ines some items are sti checked by staff on a picking ine. This heps to ensure quaity and reduce any contamination. Once separated, the materias are baed and sent on to the next ocation where they wi start to be recyced. We try to ensure as much as possibe is recyced in the UK.
