BCS Vacation Program Summer Break August 1 st - 31 st 2011 8:30am - 4:30pm Monday, August 1 st Sports and Games in Weinbergsweg Park with Picnic and Soccer Competition Today we will go to the Weinbergsweg park. All students can participate in a soccer competition. Of course we will also bring a variety of games and sports equipment for all those who prefer to stay away from the soccer pitch.

Tuesday, August 2 nd 1. Trip to Childrens Farm Pinke Panke Today the students can choose between two projects. The Childrens Farm Pinke Pank is an open and pedagogically supervised playground and farm and exists since 1991. It is a social and economical place for children and gives countrified impressions in a big city. Our students will feed the animals on the farm, will spend exciting time in the nature, do various crafts, and join adventures. Please provide your children with bathing suits and towels (for playing with lawn sprinklers)! 2. Garden Project: Summer in Wunschgarten All interested children can go with Mr. Fanore to the lovely Wunschgarten around the corner (Mulackstrasse) to do some gardening, decorating, giving water to plants and observing flowers and animals. Parents are welcome to join us! If you are interested, please contact Ms. Kahle: kahle@cosmopolitanschool.de

Wednesday, August 3 rd 1. Adventure Day at Abenteuerspielplatz Märkisches Viertel Today half of the students will go to Berlin s oldest Adventure Playground at Märkisches Viertel. (The other half will go tomorrow!) The playground is provided with a fireplace, a playhouse in a big cave and lots of space and material to build huts and have an exciting time. Our students can play table tennis or soccer, can do crafts or play inside the play-house or help cooking in the children s kitchen. And if the sun is burning, we will have a cool time in the outdoor pool! For lunch we will have a big barbeque. Please provide your children with outdoor clothes, bathing suits and towels! 2. Science Project: Selfmade Bathbombs & Bathmelts Those students who prefer to join an exciting science project are going to have a fun time creating beautiful, nurturing, and great smelling Bathfizzies. We will be using ingredients like baking soda, citrus acid, milk powder, cacao powder, cacao butter and a variety of fragrance oils. (Attention for any allergies!) Afterwards we will make their created bathfizzie home surprise someone with a great self made gift or we may have a "Fizzing Party" in our tub!

Thursday, August 4 th 1. Adventure Day at Abenteuerspielplatz Märkisches Viertel Today the other half of the students will go to Berlin s oldest Adventure Playground at Märkisches Viertel. The playground is provided with a fireplace, a play-house in a big cave and lots of space and material to build huts and have an exciting time. 2. Art Project: Tile Painting in the Bathroom Since we have had some problems involving vandalism in the bathroom, we got the inspiration to decorate some tiles with beautiful paintings! If those places inspire more beauty, our students will hopefully take better care of the space. And everybody will enjoy working with various colours in the bathroom.

Friday, August 5 th Scavenger Hunt in Volkspark Friedrichshain with Picnic The Volkspark is the oldest public park in Berlin, and at 52 hectares, it is also the third-largest. It is a popular leisure location, and is open 24 hours. The park has attractive grounds, many large areas for playing soccer, outdoor games or just sunbathing, a number of lakes, ponds and fountains, and a wading pool as well as several different playgrounds. The Märchenbrunnen is the park's most original element, with fountains designed as fairytale characters. We prepared a Scavenger Hunt for our students, so they can experience the beautiful park with it s plants and playgrounds on an exciting fun way.

Monday, August 8 th Trip to Zoo Berlin with Picnic and Zoo Rally Since 1844 visitors can relax and learn facts about the most diverse zoological subjects in Zoo Berlin. Comparable with a living, green oasis, the zoo today lies directly at the heart of the city. In an environment close to nature, animals of various shapes, sizes, and origins can be observed from the direct vicinity. The visitor s attention is drawn to details worthy of note and is given ideas on how, where, and what to observe. Besides the pure communication of theoretical wildlife preservation, Zoo Berlin also funds with contributions donated by visitors the preservation of nature in the native countries of many animals. Today all students will go to the zoo! Currently about 14000 animals are living there and we want to see a lot of them! We also prepared a little Zoo Rally for our students, so they can expand and improve their knowledge about the animals and the place where they are living.
