Especially in a working environment, unwanted sound levels and noise affect the performance of the workforce to a considerable extent. Today s popular design features, such as exposed concrete and extensive glass surfaces, have hardly any sound-absorbing properties and, therefore, worsen the room acoustics and consequently also the productivity of the workforce. Products for sound management in buildings are available with numerous different materials, surfaces, and acoustic properties. Metal and sheet metal elements are already being employed in acoustic applications. In most of the cases, these elements have circular, square, or elongated holes with clearly visible opening surfaces, and they are sound-absorbing only in combination with an acoustic fleece. A sophisticated design with invisible acoustic features can now be fully realized with SonoPerf. At a distance of approximately one metre, micro-slotted metal panels give the impression of a closed surface. Additional options for interior design with sound-absorbing SonoPerf are possible thanks to colored powder coatings or print motifs. As a specialist in the field of perforation technology, ANDRITZ Fiedler has developed a new production method. It enables the production of micro-slotted panels for large-area sound absorption applications. Micro-slotted SonoPerf panels are unique in terms of their functionality and design. Although microperforation for sound absorption has been applied for years, microslotted sound absorbers made of metal are a world premiere.

Sound absorption on the highest level with invisible micro-slots Up to now, the standard micro-perforated room acoustics materials were acrylic glass, wood, or films. The potential areas of application of these materials, however, are rather limited. In hygienic or sterile environments, sound absorption is often not possible: The available materials do not comply with the relevant rules and regulations. Film-wrapped foam material/mineral wool is not sufficiently sound-absorbing due to the closed film surface. Absorber elements with thin protective films cannot be cleaned sufficiently. The risk of bacteria growth and moulding is particularly high in a humid indoor climate. Heat- and moisture-resistant SonoPerf components made of stainless steel or aluminium have a sound-absorbing effect even without a fleece or mineral wool. In addition, they can be easily cleaned with high pressure. Apart from that, they also offer additional advantages, such as thermoactivity, stability, and durability. SonoPerf offers numerous new areas of application. Thanks to its smooth metal surface, sound-absorbing SonoPerf can be used wherever conventional perforated or closed sheet metal surfaces are used. As far as the assembly of components or the processing and handling are concerned, micro-slots have hardly any effect. Products hitherto made of solid sheets can now be enhanced with highly effective, sound-absorbing properties. Absorbing acoustic fleece or mineral wool in hygienic environments are no longer required with SonoPerf.

SonoPerf Specifications SonoPerf A (absorbing) SonoPerf A is particularly suitable for humid or hot environments as well as for hygienic environments. It can be cleaned easily with high pressure or steam. At a distance of one to two metres, the observer gets the impression of a homogenous surface. SonoPerf D (design) SonoPerf D has a high acoustic effectiveness in combination with fleece and/or mineral wool. This version is mainly chosen for design reasons, since the micro-slots are no longer perceptible at a short distance, so that the material provides the impression of a smooth surface. SonoPerf D offers excellent absorption values, even at low frequencies up to α 0.95 (class A). SonoPerf thereby sets new standards concerning the sound absorption with micro-perforated materials. More than 20 certified measurements in a reverberation room (test certificate in accordance with DIN EN ISO 354:2003) provide acousticians with a reliable planning base for the targeted and lasting noise abatement.
