POWERVE (PSPR in italian language), is an innovative measurement system, fully portable, designed to measure the static weight force distribution loaded on track, by each rolling stock wheel. Indeed, it can measure the static weight force loaded by each wheel of each bogie of a railway rolling stock on the rail, interposing the sensitive elements only between the two wheel-rail running surfaces. This will compensate the effects deriving from possible differences in wheel diameter due to wear. Specific mechanical rising supports, leaning on the rails, allow the vertical translation, of a wheelset or of a bogie, and positioning it on the corresponding measuring zones. The weighing zones are constituted by a pair of load cells for each wheel. These form a sort of cradle in which each wheel is self-centered in a stable equilibrium condition. That allows the rolling stock to stay still without having to apply an external constraint. The system is therefore not affected by tensions as for example to the braking forces. MAIN BENEFITS It weighs the train in the real running order conditions on the track, without modify the train balance, that it naturally have on the track; The whole system measurement accuracy is < 1%, and it is been certified through specific in field tests; 2 people are able to carry by hand, install and use; It requires less than 30 minutes (installation included), to perform the measurement of one bogie.
SYSTEM OUTPUT POWERVE is equipped with a built-in software, which allows to manage the system through a Tablet, which wirelessly receives the measured data from the acquisition systems. It is designed to support the operator during the procedure, providing guidance on the necessary actions to perform during the whole measurement cycle. It s also equipped with control and visualization systems (both HW and SW), to control the measurement process, to display the results, to process data and store them. These features are aimed at limiting human errors and to guide the operator throughout the measurement process.
POWERVE is supplied as a Bogie Kit, able to weigh each of the 4 wheels allowing the weigh of both axle wagons and bogie wagons. The Bogie Kit consists of the following main components: Position Ramps - n. 4 rail supports, each for the positioning of one wheel on the load cells Positioning Ramp Spacer - n. 1 mechanical jig, for positioning the Position Ramps Cylindrical Load Cells - n. 8 load cells, 2 for each wheel Acquisition Boards Circuits (ABC) - n. 4 electronic systems, for the power supply of each pair of cells, the acquisition and wireless transmission of the measured data and its display POWERVE Management System - SW application able of system managing and control during the measurement session, to process data and display the results, installed on a Tablet PC. Router - for wireless connection of ABC with the Tablet PC.
PRODUCT CERTIFICATIONS Approved by Product Certification Body, working in compliance with UNI CEI EN 17065 Compliant to the EMC, a CE directive for electromagnetic compatibility Class II Load Cells (UNI EN ISO 376), tested by ACCREDIA laboratories, in compliance with UNI CEI EN 17025 As part of product certification, POWERVE (PSPR) has been verified in the overall functioning of the system under operational conditions in the field, in the presence of an Independent Safety Assessor (ISA), to certify the achievable performances (overall system uncertainty of <1%). The tests were carried out using some concrete blocks, of well known weight (measured by greater accuracy class instrumentation), loaded onto a freight wagon rolling stock equipped with bogies, to evaluate the deviation measured by POWERVE (PSPR) system compared to the expected values.
