Rear bumper spoiler diffuser EN 0he accessories are intended for professional бttingв ŠKOD 10O recommends that they are бtted by a contractual partnerв The rear bumper spoiler diffuser (hereafter simply referred to as "diffuser") is manufactured from polyurethane шp1rщв 0his component is supplied to ŠKOD 10O by the manufacturer without surface treatment to prepare it for painting. To paint this component, refer to the instructions provided by the paint manufacturer for painting polyurethane. 0he diffuser шorder noв JJ Bщ is designed exclusively for Rapid Spaceback шnh щ vehicles not бtted with a tow barв Component index for the set 5JJ 071 610B (fig. 1) Component Diffuser Fitting instructions Quantity 1 1 Item Note 0he adhesive sealant and the required activator are not included in the set and must be ordered separately in accordance with the workshop's practices. In order to correctly adhere the diffuser to the vehicle, the ambient temperature, the vehicle temperature and the temperature of the parts to be bonded must be between 18 and 30 C. Protect the components from direct sunlight (fig. 1). Cautionд During бttingг ensure that the work area is adequately ventilated the cleaning agents contain dangerous fumes. Carry out the бnal diffuser surface treatment for the appropriate colour hue in accordance with the instructions provided by the paint manufacturer. 11
Cautionд The diffuser cannot be бtted until the paint on the vehicle has completely dried. EN During the preliminary work, always lay the diffuser on a soft, clean surface, in order to avoid causing damage. Fitting procedure Fig. 2 Place the vehicle on the arms of the workshop lifting platform and raise it accordingly. Remove the existing rear bumper and the standard diffuser in accordance with the ŠKOD Repair Manualв Place the removed screws in a suitable place to the side. Fig. 3 On the rear bumper, use a suitable felt-tip pen to draw a line (see arrows) to mark the part that is to be cut away. 1sing a suitable tool шeвgв a cutterщг бrst cut along the groove in the middleг and then cut to the left and right of this (see arrows), making sure that the dimensions of the cut correspond to the dimensions given in the бgureв In order to correctly position the diffuserг the hole drilled in the groove must be removed. Fig. 4 1se soapy water to thoroughly clean the surface indicated on the interior of the groove in the rear bumper (see arrows). Fig. 5 1se a suitable feltлtip pen to make marks in several places on the standard diffuser in accordance with the dimensions given in the detail. In order to trim off excess areas шincluding the edgesщ шsee arrowsщг adhere the body adhesive tape along the entire length of the diffuser. 0wo people are required to carry out this stepв Fig. 6 Then use a suitable saw to saw all along the body tape adhered over the entire length of the diffuser, and then saw the diffuser off at the left- and right-hand sides (edges) (see arrows). 0wo people are required to carry out this stepв Fig. 7 Take the part of the standard diffuser that is no longer needed and dispose of it as sorted waste. Check that the cut-off part of the diffuser is the correct shape and rectify any uneven areas. Fig. 8 In the centre of the standard diffuser that has been cut offг draw a line шsee arrowsщ to mark where the diffuser is to be cut away. 1se a suitable saw to saw off the area marked in the centre of the diffuser шsee arrowщ in accordance with the dimensions given in the бgureв 1se sandpaper шgrit щ to gently roughen the side of the standard diffuser that is to be adhered, and then clean and degrease it using a suitable cleaning agent. Leave to dry for 10 12
minutes. Then apply Betaprime 5600 activator (E) (see arrows). EN Fig. 9 1se sandpaper шgrit 8 щ to gently roughen the surface indicated on the diffuser шщ where the prepared cut-off standard diffuser is to be adhered (see arrows), and then clean and degrease this area with Terostat 8550 cleaning agent. Leave to dry for 10 minutes. Please note: The adhesive surface must be completely free from greaseг primerг paint residues and any other dirtв Then apply Betawipe 4000 activator (C) to the surface of the diffuser (see arrows) as shown in the бgureв Leave to dry for minutesв Fig. 10 0rim the Betalink K adhesive sealant шdщ nozzle as shown in the figureг such that the inner diameter of the nozzle is approximately 8 mm. pply a bead of adhesive sealant to the prepared surface at the bottom of the cut-off diffuser as shown in the figure. Position the diffuser () and the prepared cut-off diffuser in the correct position relative to one another, such that the holes in the diffuser () line up with the holes in the cut-off diffuser (see arrows). Press the two parts together and use four clamps to fix them in place. Start with a clamp either side of the centre, and then place one on the right and another on the left. 0wo people are required to carry out this stepв 0he parts that you have just adhered together must be left in a protected environment for 1 hour (at a temperature between 18 and 30 C). Once this time has elapsedг remove the four clampsв Fig. 11 1se sandpaper шgrit 8 щ to gently roughen the adhesive surface indicated on the diffuser (), the groove running around the edge of the diffuser and the side areas (see arrows), and then clean and degrease these areas with Terostat 8550 cleaning agent. Leave to dry for 10 minutes. Please note: The adhesive surface must be completely free from greaseг primerг paint residues and any other dirtв Then apply Betawipe 4000 activator (C) to the surfaces of the diffuser (see arrows) as shown in the бgureв Leave to dry for minutesв Trim the Betamate 2810 adhesive sealant (B) nozzle as shown in the figure, such that the inner diameter of the nozzle is approximately 8 mm. pply a bead of adhesive sealant to the prepared surfaces of the diffuser as shown in the figure (see arrows). Fig. 12 Place the rear bumper on a suitable tool so that it keeps its shape. This is to ensure that the diffuser is correctly adhered to the rear bumper and that it locks into place properly. 0hree people are required to carry out this stepв Fig. 13 Push the diffuser into the openings in the rear bumper and press down on the adhesive surfaces. Clip the four middle locking catches in place and push them in, and then do the same with the rest of the locking catches on the left and right. 13
EN 1se a suitable cleaning agent to thoroughly clean any adhesive squeezed out of the gap between the diffuser and the bumper. Visually check that the diffuser is in the correct position. 0hree people are required to carry out this stepв Fig. 14 1se four pieces of body tape to make sure that the diffuser that is adhered to the rear bumper is securely fixed in place. Then refit the rear bumper with the diffuser to the vehicle. Fig. 15 Screw the three screws back into the bottom of the diffuser and tighten them fully. Fig. 16 Finish securely бxing the diffuser using the body tapeг roughly as shown in the figureв Once the component has been adheredг the vehicle must be stored in a protected environment for 6 hours (at a temperature between 18 and 30 C). Please noteд fter 1 hourг use a plastic putty knife to remove the residual adhesive sealant that has been squeezed out around the adhered componentг and then clean it with a suitable cleaning agentв If the бxing tape is disturbed when the component is being cleanedг the tape must be removedг the surface that was underneath it must be cleaned and fresh tape must then be applied. The vehicle must not be moved for the remaining time the adhesive sealant must dry properlyв Once this time has elapsedг remove the pieces of adhesive tape. Provide the customer with the following information when handing over the vehicle шбgв щ For 48 hours after the diffuser has been adhered, the instructions below must be followed. Do not drive faster than km/hг as the diffuser must not be mechanically stressed in any way. Do not drive the vehicle through a car washв These instructions must be followed in order to ensure that the diffuser is adhered in line with quality requirementsв Fitting the diffuser changes the total length of the vehicle by г mmв 0his information is used by transport authorities for subsequent entry in the registration documentв 5ou must comply with the countryлspeciбc statutory regulationsв The part with part number 5JJ 071 610B is located on a surface which, for technical reasonsг is inaccessible after бttingв Please retain these instructions for the entire service life of this product. 14
