2 Additional materials Tools and Accessories Other supplies for video 3/4 fluted dowel pins 3 1/4 hole saw 8 wine bottles 3/4 birch edge banding 1 1/4 hole saw 12 wine glasses with stems Wood glue doweling jig (optional) stemless glasses (optional) Dark walnut stain compressor and nailer (headless pinner prefered) white paint and primer Create the case 1. Cut the 3/4 plywood into the above dimensions. Use 3/4 edge banding to cover exposed plywood edges on all four sides of the top and bottom, the 14 sides of the side pieces (front and back) and the 14 sides (front and back) of the support dividers. 2. Choose the best faces of top, bottom, and side pieces, and use blue painters tape to indicate outer faces. Keeping these faces oriented to the outside, using a doweling jig to drill four centered holes 3/8 deep on the inside of top and bottom at 3/4, 5, 10, 15 1/4, 3/8 from the edge. Drill four mirrored dowel holes on top and bottom (exposed ply) of side panels. Repeat on for other side panel. NOTE: All dowel holes are 3/8 deep and on center. 3. Mark a line 16 1/8 from each side of the top and bottom. This is the center line for the dividers. From the front edge, drill a centered dowel hole at 3 3/4, 8, 11, and 15 3/4 in the top and bottom. Drill the mating holes at 3/4, 5, 8 and 12 3/4 in the top and bottom of the dividers. Create the bottle and wine racks 4. From 3/4 hardwood, cut two 5x15 and two 3x15 pieces. On the 3x15, mark a center line along the length, and vertical line at 2, 5 5/8, 9 1/4, and 12 7/8. Drill four evenly spaced holes with the 1 1/4 hole saw. Then, cut this piece in half, creating two 15x1 7/16 racks with half circles (1/8 of an inch, or 1/16th from each half, will be removed by the saw blade kerf)

3 On the 5x15, mark the same lines, and drill four evenly spaced holes with the 3 1/4 hole saw. Then, cut this piece in half, creating two 15x1 7/16 racks with half circles (1/8 of an inch, or 1/16th from each half, will be removed by the saw blade kerf) 6. From the 1/2 hardwood, cut all rail, and rack pieces, including the back supports. 7. Glue up the rails, using clamps, small headless pins or brad nails, and wood glue The two side brackets are L-shaped. Glue each of the 2 5/8 outer supports to one of the 1 1/4 rails, one with each outer edge flush. The two center brackets are T-shaped. Glue each of the 4 1/8 inner supports to one of the 1 middle rails, setting each 1/8 off center from rail. See diagram below for details.

4 Pre-finishing 7. Sand all pieces, and finish the outer faces and edges (marked above with blue tape) with dark walnut stain, following the package directions, and allow to dry. Stain the table legs. 8. Once stain is dry, tape off stained edges with blue tape, and paint inside faces of top, bottom, and side pieces white. 9. Paint the support dividers, bottle racks, glass racks, and compartment #3 rear supports white. Assembly 10. Assemble the inner structure (dividers and wine racks). Place the center dividers 15 apart, on the center line of the pre-drilled dowel holes. Attach the glass racks using the following measurements to the front and back of the dividers, attaching with dowels and and glue (trim the dowels as necessary on the racks). Drill the mating dowel holes on the interior wall of the left side panel. Racks should be 7 1/2 inches apart from the inside (9 on outside). Front:

5 Rear: 11. Set the inner structure on top of the base, inserting dowels for a dry fit. If secure, remove all dowels and fill holes with wood glue and replace dowels for final assembly. Attach the rear supports to the third compartment using wood glue and clamps (small finish nails okay here), flush with the base and the top of the dividers. Fill the top dowel holes with glue and dowels, and attach the top. 12. Lastly, use wood glue and a finish nailer (headless pinner) to attach the glass rack rails to the underside of the top. They should fit at: L-shaped 0 flush with divider T-shaped 5 on center from divider T-shaped 10 on center from divider L-shaped flush with right side There will be a 1/2 space between each rack for the glass stems 13. Once glue has dried, attach legs to the bottom, not flush with the corners, but spaced from the side so that it has visual interest, similar to mid-century modern pieces by Paul McCobb s Planer series.
