System Configuration Windows User Access Control (UAC) 2 2Not applicable for Microsoft Windows XP TM Windows user Requisite UAC must be disabled prior to install SBW. UAC must stay disabled all the time. User must have administrative rights to install and utilize SBW Go to All Programs Control Panel User Accounts User Accounts Change user Account Control Settings. Verify is set to Never Notify or Turn Off If not set to Off : Slide the bar to Never Notify or Turn Off. Then REBOOT SYSTEM Go to All Programs Control Panel User Accounts User Accounts Manage user Accounts. Verify user account belong to Administrators If not, change it with help of their local IT if applicable. Then REBOOT SYSTEM User Access Users must be authorized in order to use SBW Description: When trying to log on in SBW the following error is displayed Password doesn t match in HPP Requisite Users must be authorized to access both the HP Partner Portal and SBW specifically Users must have a current User Id and Password. Verify you can connect to Partner Portal and your password is up to date. Insure that the User Id is entered exactly, including capital letters where needed. Work with your Partner Manager to get registered and authorized in HP s Partner Relationship Management System If there is a special character like a + or or / in your password which is not supported by SBW Update Manager. Please change your password again in Smart Portal and use a format like Smart1234 a capital letter being considered as a special character. Page 4
Detailed Steps to install SBW for Windows Prior to installing SBW for Windows NOTE: Follow Steps in this section if you already have SBW installed in your computer Shut down SBW and Update Manager Review All System Requirements (above) Exit SBW Configurator and Quoter Exit Update Manager by right clicking on the icon bar and selecting exit User Registration, Login and Download To download SBW for Windows TM HP Partner Portal user name and password are required; if you don t have them; place your request through your regional HP Partner Portal. 1. Logon to your Partner Portal and navigate to SBW on the menu located on the left side of the page. NOTE: For North America users SBW for Windows TM is located under: Prices Quote & configuration tools menu. For Latin America users Sales Builder for Windows (SBW) is located under: Productos y Precios configuration tools. Special pricing & You will now be redirected to the HP Tools site which will provide all of the necessary information to assist with the installation of SBW for Windows Page 5

Installation 1. Go to the location where you saved the install file (SBWQB.exe) and double-click on it. 2. Installshield will start - just click next. 3. If you do not have a current version of the Crystal Reportstm runtime, which is required software for SBW, you will be prompted to install this runtime. Click Install and follow the installation for Crystal Reports 2008 Runtime, including accepting the license agreement. 4. In the Installation Wizard you will be welcomed to SBWQB R19p0b24. Click Next to launch the install wizard 5. Review the License Agreement. To proceed, with the installation as the user the agreement must be accepted. After doing so click Next 6. Insert your HP Partner Portal Credentials. This information is required to allow the installation to complete by obtaining the necessary data files for the application to successfully operate. 7. It is recommended that the user supplies their email address so that notifications can be sent out concerning support issues and updates. While this is not mandatory it is highly recommended. 8. The installation is now ready to commence by clicking Install a. Enter the appropriate region which your credentials are set up in b. Select the appropriate Knowledge Base file Full provides Visio Templates LoCal provides everything except for Visio Templates 9. A number of windows will display the progress of the installation. Be patient. 10. The application requires the following data files to allow the application to function. a. Knowledge Base File (KB) b. Pricebook File c. ExhibitDiscount file (Optional) 11. So while the Install Wizard may indicate that the installation is complete it really is not. Just click on Continue. 12. Upon clicking Continue the Update Manager will launch enabling the process to download the necessary Data Files for the application to work. 13. When the Update Manager opens click Next 14. In the event that the proper user credentials were added during the installation process the following error will appear. Should this happen proceed to page 14 for instructions. Otherwise proceed to the next step. 15. During this stage of the Update Manager the utility will check for updates and so a series of messages in the Update Manager will indicate so. 16. Once completed in terms of gathering the correct files based on the user profile set up, the required data files will be displayed Page 7
The initial install requires all data files to be loaded in the application. So while there are boxes to select and or de-select do not do so. One by one the contents in the zip files will be extracted and loaded into the proper directories. 17. As each file is downloaded the update manager will provide the download status and progress as files are downloaded and extracted as shown below. At no time should the cancel button be selected as it will leave the install in an incomplete status. 18. Once all files have been successfully downloaded and extracted the application will be ready to use. Starting SBW for Windows To start running SBW click on Start Programs HP Business Tools SBW Configurator or SBW Quoter Resetting Update Manager with Credentials If HP Partner Portal credentials were omitted during the installation they will need to be supplied so that the Update Manager can successfully run and update the application for usage 1. Right mouse click on the update manager ICON in the system tray. 2. Select Preferences 3. Insert your HP Partner Portal User Name, Password and confirming the password 4. Select Update Preferences 5.
