About Synergy Synergy provides a web-based, centralized and secure solution for accessing and sharing content such as documents, files and presentations.
Accessing Synergy To access Schoolwires Synergy please open your web browser and go to following web address http://swapps.etps.schoolwires.net p// pp p. Once There enter your username and password to Sign In.
Login If you have any problems signing in please contact If you have any problems signing in please contact ewtechsup@ewingboe.org. Once you successfully Sign In please click on the Synergy tab.
Synergy setup You will not be able to access Synergy until an administrator gives you access to your folder. After you successfully sign in please allow 24 hours for your folder to be activated. If you do not have access to a folder within 24 to 72 hours please contact ewtechsup@ewingboe.org org.
Synergy Once you have access to your folder your screen will look like the image below. Take a minute to look around to get familiar with the buttons and shortcuts. *Shortcuts may vary depending on account permissions.
Synergy Items Items on left Tool Bar New folder this button will create a new folder for you. Search Folders - use this to search folders for files. Favorite Files this is where you will find all you files mark as favorites. Files with comments Any comments made to your files will show up here. Recent Files this will list any files you worked on recently. Large Files this will show you the largest files in your folders. Mailed Files this will list any files you recently mailed to someone. Recycle Bin When you delete a file it will be placed in the recycle bin. The item will not be deleted until the Recycle bin is emptied. Items on top Tool Bar Email File After selecting a file, select this button to email that file to someone. Move File This will move a selected file from one folder to another. Zip File(s) This will zip several files into one file. Delete File This will move a selected file to the Recycle Bin. *Reminder* Files will not be deleted until they are deleted from the recycle bin.
Creating a new Folder f f f f The first time you sign in, you will have no folders. Therefore, the first thing you will need to do is create a new folder.
Creating a New Folder Click on the New Folder button at the top of the Folders tab. A New Folder window like the one shown below will be displayed.
Creating a New Folder Enter a name for the folder (required). Choose a folder template from the drop-down list (required). Since this is your first folder, you will have to create it at the top level. l Click in the checkbox to the left of Make Top Level Folder. Click on the Save button.
Synergy Once you have successfully created a folder you will see the folder on the top of the folder navigation menu.
Uploading files Now that you have successfully created a folder, you will now be able to upload and create files. To upload a document to your newly created folder select upload.
Uploading files After selecting upload a new window will appear (image below). Select browse in the upper left corner to locate what file you want to upload.
Synergy Browse your computer until you find the location of the files you wish to upload. TIP: If no files display in the window, the files in that location may not be one of the file types allowed in that folder. Email ewtechsup@ewingboe.org for more info. Select one or more files, Click on the Open button The files you added will display in the Upload File(s) window Click on the Upload button A progress bar will display in the Upload File(s) window. A message will be displayed confirming a successful upload.
Working with Files To access the folder workspace that contains the files fl with which h you want to work, click on the name of the folder in the (Left) navigation pane. A folder workspace like the one shown will display. As you can see, the folder name will display at the top of that workspace. The folder name will be in bold in the navigation pane.
Downloading a File Click on the file name within the folder workspace. The click menu for that file will display. Click on the Download button in the click menu. A File Download window will appear. Click on the Save button. Navigate to the location in your computer to which h you wish to save this file. Click on the Save button. The file will be saved.
Creating an Online File To create an online word processing file, navigate to the desired folder workspace. Click on the New File button. A New File window like the one shown will display. Enter a title for the file in the File Title field. Click in the radio button to the left of the word processing document. Click on the Save button. A word processing editor will display.
Creating an Online File K Create and format your file fl using the online word processor. After your done working on your file, click on the save in the upper left corner to save your document.
Creating an Online File After you successfully saved your document you will see the new file in your folder.
Viewing Shared folders Synergy has the ability to share folders with other users. To view shared folders look for the shared with me tab in the upper left corner of the screen. To access shared folders please select the shared with me tab. If p you do not have a shared with me tab, then there are no shared folders available at this time.
Shared folders f Depending on the permissions setup by the person sharing the folder your access to the shared folder will be different then your own folders. Users who have access to shared folders usually will not have the ability to delete files. Downloading and uploading files are the usual permissions available to a shared user (see below). If you need different access to a shared folder please contact the person who is sharing the folder.
Shared folders Download and upload files like you would in your own folder. * Tip When sharing files remember you will not be the only one with access to those files. Please make sure all information that is being uploaded or downloaded in a shared location is ready for other people to see.
