Thermostatic Valves including the Ondine 25072 use a high technology temperature sensing element to control temperature fluctuations. At the heart of this system is the thermal motor located at the bottom of the thermostatic cartridge. Over time, impurities in the water can accumulate on the thermostatic element causing an insulation effect and reducing the response time of the valve. The ShowerStore.com Thermostatic Valve Replacement Cartridge and Rebuild Kit contains everything you need to return your thermostatic valve to proper working order. These instructions will help you get the best performance from your valve rebuild. RE-ASSEMBLY LINE FLUSH AND SCREEN CLEANING LINE FLUSH AND SCREEN CLEANING 1 To begin flushing, open the stop valves by turning them counter-clockwise. Flush pipes thoroughly. 2 Close the stop valves by turning them clockwise. 3 Check cartridge screen for impurities and rinse clean. If the element has excessive deposits, soak in a solution of 50% water and 50% vinegar for 10 minutes. Rinse clean. RE-ASSEMBLY 1 Make sure the screens are clean and install them by hand using a gentle rocking motion until the seal is at least flush with the face of the valve opening. (The screens will be pushed in deeper when the cover plate is replaced.) 6
2 Make sure the cartridge cavity is free of sediment and debris and that the cartridge is clean before installation. Align cartridge and insert. Do not force cartridge into place. GROOVE CARTRIDGE CAVITY 3 Replace the two O-rings in the valve cover plate with the new ones supplied with this kit. (Inset) Install the cover plate and tighten the four screws. RE-ASSEMBLY 4 Open stop valves at this time by turning them counterclockwise. Make sure that no leakage occurs. 7
5 Replace the spline adapter, any spline extensions and the handle adapter to the cartridge spline. 6 Insert one of the adapter screws supplied with this kit that fits the best and tighten the adapters to cartridge spline. RE-ASSEMBLY PLEASE NOTE: The old screw may not fit the new cartridge. 7 Ensure the existing valve trim mounting screws are in the mounting screw posts on the valve. 8
8 Mount the trim escutcheon to the valve by aligning the large holes in the trim to the mounting screw heads. Rotate the trim counterclockwise until it is straight. 9 Tighten the mounting screws. Do not overtighten. RE-ASSEMBLY CALIBRATION 1 Turn the system on by rotating the Volume Control counterclockwise. Allow the system to warm up. 2 Place a thermometer under the outlet to measure the temperature of the emerging water. CALIBRATION Turn the handle post to adjust the temperature flowing through the valve to 100 F (38 C). 9
3 Shut off the system by rotating the Volume Control clockwise. ALIGN 4 Attach the handle to the handle post. Align the temperature limit override button on the 100 F mark. CALIBRATION 5 Replace the handle screw and tighten the handle to the handle post. Ensure that the O-ring is seated on the cap cover. Snap the cover onto the handle. 10
